Ah, the Shakespeare's Head. How sad your demise....
If I was reviewing this historical boozer 4 years ago the only thing I'd fault would be the staff's inability to speak the English language (it once took me 12 minutes to order a round and a packet of Walkers). Aside from that this was a charming, cosy pub overlooking Carnaby Street. Office workers, tourists and Mods filled the room seven days a week. The jukebox was second to none.
Today, however, a fancy 'makeover' has stripped The Head of all character. Any historical references have gone - the wall's painted a Gastro dark red, the painting's straight from Ikea - the jukebox has disappeared and the clientele seems to be solely tourists.
I can only hope the old Shakespeare's returns soon.
