When you come to a gigantic London you really want to find a restaurant that will give you a warm feeling of eating at home, always please your appetite and never disappoint your expectations. It seems like an impossible mission, right?
Not if you get to know Bam-Bou, which invites you into the world of little Asia in the middle of hectic London. Let yourself to be taken by an astonishing interior of this converted Georgian town house and lose yourself in the fusion of Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese dishes that are bound to leave you screaming for more.
The Vibe
From the very first steps inside the narrow candle-lit corridor embellished with a statue of Buddha and burning scents, your intuition whispers to you that you are about to experience something ineffable. And your inner voice is more than right. This four storey versatile heaven provides two restaurant areas, four private dinning rooms and the top floor Red Bar. Every room has its own appeal. Enormous golden-framed oil paintings, dimmed lighting and a hand-painted vase with fresh flowers bring a tranquility to the dinning rooms. If you wish your birthday party to be a subject of everyone’s admiration simply choose one of the breathtaking private rooms with a set menu on offer and feast, literally, like a king or queen. The bar, in red tones and adorned with leather banquettes and cushions, combines comfort with an alluring intimacy. A definite place to be.
The Food
The beauty of Bam-Bou’s menu comes from the fact that every choice offers a different sensual adventure of taste, smell and sight. The menu feature some unusual finds in starters, for instance: Thai crab cakes coated in bread crumbs served with sweet plum pickle or Bo La Lot - ground spiced grilled beef wrapped tightly into wild pepper leaves. The smell of the fare wafts in the air hypnotising every visitor. The mains offer delights to please every pallet with suggestions such as finger-licking lamb and butternut squash panang curry served with steamed jasmine rice or impressive steamed bream with soy, shaoxing (Chinese red wine), shitake mushrooms and ginger, served as a whole fish in a stylish bowl. Whatever you choose expect the wow factor.
Why We Love It
For any occasion, for all weather, Bam-Bou can lift your mood and transport you into another world. Even if the sensation stays with you just for a short period of time afterwards, it is well worth climbing all the multiple stairs to be part of this unique dining experience.

An odd place, there???s no doubt about it. What does it want to be I wonder - a bar, a restaurant, a member's only club? Inside is spread over three floors - sort of narrow, sort of Moroccan, sort of red cushions on dark wood. It's the sort of place where you need a table to sit at, this is not in the rule book, but you???d be hard pushed to find a corner to prop up, unless you hang in the toilets. And if that is your thing you???d be better off moving on to other parts of Soho. Leading on from that thought, cocktails (a-hem) are lovely here, and so they should be when the discreet bill was pushed under my arm. Oh expenses, how I miss you.
