Aquum is the snazziest place to open in Clapham since Lost Society. I had heard that it was full of Essex types, so I had avoided it for months but to be fair after venturing there last week, we had fun.
The bartenders are entertaining, in a Tom Cruise manner but with the décor and cool tunes Aquum is “cool”. We ordered cocktails by the bucket load and left happy. Will we come again, yes if it better then the Loft, no.
On a bright but chilly Saturday lunch time I and 3 girls hit Odettes, we all loved it. The interior is fabulous, Black & White print wallpaper, bright yellow chairs, with small fiddly light fittings. The lunch time menu for 2 course is good value at £12, I had an amazing pea soup followed by trout.
After had enjoyable Hour and half we hit the shops to go "sleb" hunting in Primrose Hill. My new favourite place in NW1
I finally got to Pix last night with the West London girls for a post work meet up and drink. We stayed long enough to all agree that Pix could be one of our new pit stops when in Notting Hill.
Love the tapas concept here, everything costs 2.99 and you just go help yourself. Fantastic chortizo, thingies and other such yummy plates of goodness that have been prepared with great attention line the counter as you walk in and the large airy room. The staff are attentive without being pushy and explain the set up and take your drink order.
My only real gripe is the lack of any comfortable seating, the tables and chairs are all small, wooden and reclaimed. I have no problem with old seating in bars, but Pix is aiming a little too upmarket and the clientelle here is 80% female, so this for me is an own goal. That said we had a great time.
A great addition to Westbourne Grove!
