This is by far the best Vietnamese on Kingsland Road. The other places are too quick, rushed and impersonal. This place is a restaurant, not a canteen. You can take your time, have a full meal, there are some delicious starters, mains and even puds which is not common on this stretch. There is a shop that sells booze almost next door so if you run out you can re-stock pretty quickly.
Food to try has to include salt and pepper squid, pork balls with honey and spices, salt and pepper quail, lotus root salad. For mains try the goat with galangal and even the black bean chicken is amazing as it comes on a sizzling platter so the sauce caramelizes on the meat - nice! Plenty of vege choices too, and some amazing whole cooked fish for the peskies. The pho is also yummy if you just want lunch.
Prices are so low a rugby player could have a serious scoff for no more than £20.
And to top it all off the service is warm, friendly and polite - reflecting the family run gem.

Zigfrid can get very busy and is best avoided during these times, those being anything after 7pm, especially at the weekend.
Try and visit during the day when you can find your own little spot and settle in for the long haul. The food is ok and a little bit more than the usual bar fare, drinks are ok, and the music is listenable.

Typical of all the other Apstrophes and all the rest of the chains masquerading as a patisserie/boulangerie. Paying such high prices for ready-prepped food is pretty scandalous. It is a quiet place for a nice-ish coffee and a good place to go if you are need of a birthday cake last minute as they have them in store - ready-prepped of course.
