Thought I'd try the Sunday buffet, not coming here again, it was ok , not much of a selection, but I think there are better choices in Lordship Lane...
I always ignored the Pistachio Club, as my first judgement was it was a very over priced curry made for the west Dulwich customers. Upon my first visit i will never judge a book by its cover.....this is the best restaurant by far, this use to be my old local when it was the Eastern Eye 9 years back and i ahave been loyal since. When i saw the guvnor of Eastern Eye as the proud owner with his two sons of the pistachio club, i knew lordship lane was in good hands.I have since proposed to my girlfriend on valentines night in The Pistachio Club and the lads were kind enough to set up a lovely table and suprise. The evening was so special with soft candle and beautiful music. The food is made in Heaven because i have always disliked fish but on this particular night my taste buds was as open as a letter box and i tried by mistake the Boal fish, it was the best.
It's pretty darn tough to find an honest curry house in lordship lane nowdays where a curry is not watered down to suit the British palate. I was intrigued by their upmarket and contemporary environment and thought it was all a bit west end. How wrong was I? This is the only place where the menu is designed to educate the British palate with authentic dishes which I have not seen, tasted or smelt before. The Pistachio club is all about authentic cuisine and the only restaurant which is proud of its Bangladeshi roots. Eighty percent of curry houses are owned, managed and cooked by bengalis but the credit is paid to Indians. Equally all the dishes on the menu have a history and the region of its origin. The service was the best and the reason to this is that its a family run restaurant. Docs advice- this is the best.
