I'd just like to warn people about how Belair House in Dulwich is now. It used to be (so I've heard) a very reputable restaurant, but since they've changed hands they're definitely not a recommend venue. We went there over the weekend and celebrated my mothers 70th birthday party. We waited ages for the food to be served and when it was wasn't even hot! The children were supposed to have a special childrens menu but they failed to serve this up and instead gave them massive portions which obviously they wouldn't eat!We would like to warn potential party bookings that this is not the place to go for a celebration meal. Please be warned!
"The food was ok. but at the price (?100 for two) I have had better meals - head for Chez Bruce in Wandsworth."
Looking out onto the park, this is a fantastically beautiful restaurant, which serves international modern cooking. It's not cheap, but when the cooking's this good, it's worth paying out for the treat. Great food, service and atmosphere - a London rarity nowadays. My favourite is the smoked haddock fishcakes accompanied by a herb salad - with herbs grown in the grounds, but the tomato tartlet with deep fried goat's cheese and rocket salad is also a favourite
