I had the most delicious steak at Julies, at a ridiculously reasonable price. For Notting Hill I didn't think it was too expensive, and it was the best service I've had in London for a very long time. But that is just my opinion.

I was treated to a meal at the Wolseley the other evening, and although I'm glad the bill wasn't coming to me, it wasn't outrageously expensive considering both the level of service and quality of food." I had the weiner schnitzel that put my moms to shame, and the side of green beans were crunchy and so delicious that even my children would have eaten them!"The interior is phenomenal, very grand and well laid out so even though it was packed, we didn't feel crowded. However the best bit of the decor was actually Jeremy Clarkson at the table opposite me, smoking like a trouper.

The Waterway, Paddington
The Waterway

Many years ago I used to walk along the canal and, if with friends, would stop at the Waterway on the way back. This was a pub along the canal with the most phenomenal patio. Unfortunately it was also populated with drunken yobs galore."Tonight I returned, and was shocked."Yes, it has been.. you guessed it, gentrified."But you know what? It was lovely."Still had the huge patio overlooking the canal, but now had a wonderful combination of clientele, a wonderful selection of wine, and a fantastic outdoor kitchen for fantastic burgers and the best fries I've had this side of the Atlantic."I'm loathe to submit this review, you will all rush there and I will no longer get a seat on the huge patio, but at least I will be standing with a better bunch of people than I was 10 years ago! (Gosh, that sounds awful, but trust me, its true.)

I'm not too sure about the food, but the atmosphere in the cavernous upstairs is fantastic for a casual bottle or two of wine!
