Intimate and delicious.
High prices for Leicester but well worth it. The steamed coconut rice is delish, as are the sticky sweet and sour prawns with cashews.
Waiting staff are very helpful, attentive and polite.
Highly recommended.
The Basement is a fun and funky little place.
Music has varied every time I have been, from 80's to hip hop to swing! It's always provides a top night out and it's where all the cool kids can be found!
It's small, sweaty and open til 6am...perfect!
Free before 1am at the weekends, and they sell Desperados :-) yum
The Charlotte has been going for years and is still brilliant.
Keep an eye on their website http://www.thecharlotte.co.uk for updates on who's playing. The tickets are usually cheap, as it is mostly up-and-coming bands that play there. Some absolute legends have played there over the years, and you wont believe their hall of fame.
It's dirty and studenty (so take ID if you look youngish), but once the band starts you forget all that.
Nice crowd...just try and avoid the toilets!
The food here is excellent, the wine is excellent, the atmosphere is very nice...the price a little steep!
I save this place for special occassions, or if someone else is paying ;-) hehe
Firenze sister restaurant Boboli (in Kibworth Harcourt) is also very nice and a little more casual and indeed much cheaper than Firenze.
Take your partner for Birthdays or Anniversaries!
I used to really enjoy meals at the Yews, was a great place to go with the 'rents, and the specials board was fab...
However, the last time I went was a lunch time. The menu had shrunk, and on the last bite of my sandwich I bit into a massive bug! I just about managed to keep my lunch down. They gave me a £2.50 refund!
Needless to say I haven't been back since, very disappointing :(
