I don't care how expensive this place might seem, the food is so good it is worth it! Love the interior design, my eyes light up when I see the menu and I get excited waiting for my choices to arrive at the table - I just know they'll be fantastic. I've not been disappointed yet.
There are so many things not in Ripe Tomato's favour. It's name for starters, that it's tucked away on All Saints Road which (very sadly) seems to be dying and it's tiny inside... AND YET... it's as popular as ever! That fact alone should tell you all you need to know - this place survives because it's very good. For me, it's the perfect place to go for a intimate meal or for those moments when you just want to sit down and eat homely food. My only tiny gripe is that I'd like portions to be a little bigger - it tastes so good!
What happened to this place?! It used to be great but has seriously waned. Staff are surly and the food actually a bit bland. I stopped eating here after my bill was upcharged on two occassions. Disappointing.
Seems this place has had some mixed reviews but I have nothing but praise for the place. I've been several times recently and had some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten (and I've travelled extensively in Thailand). The service has always been really friendly and all-in-all, I enjoy visiting Thai Rice. This place and the Churchill Arms get my best Thai votes.
I'm in total agreement with Roifield's review below. I didn't really want to like and welcome this place to portobello road but having tried it, I'm a fan! It is pricey but it's... well... bloody tasty and on a cold winter's afternoon, very welcome indeed!
