I enjoyed a meal at Vivat Bacchus as part of a party of 6 last week. The wine and cheese in particular were exceptional and the tour of the cheese room really made the night. I had the Kudu for a starter which was completely overwhelmed by the excessive use of capers but the salad and potato crisps were really good. For the main course I had the Springbok which was perfectly cooked and a great tasting piece of meat. Others particularly enjoyed the rib-eye and the halibut. I did feel that the service was the weakest link - slightly stuffy and dis-jointed with nobody knowing what anyone else was doing. Overall a great night and worth the £430 bill, but with scope for easy improvements.
