After watching the trailer I really wanted to go and see this film, as this was one of my favourite movie genres.
I was right to go and see the film as it was great on all levels. The film was tense, mysterious and full of stunning special effects. Without giving too much away the film starts out in the past showing a young girl Lucinda who when is asked to draw a picture for the time capsule the school is about to bury she rights a huge page of numbers. Once the capsule is buried 50 years on young caleb (Chandler Canterbury) comes across lucindas page of numbers and wonders what it means. Later on professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) calebs dad finds that there is a certain meaning for these numbers in fact they are dates on disasters in the future the world will face both natural and unnatural for example 9/11.
Nicolas cage done a great job, he plays a similar character as in many of his other films. But also in this film he is shown as a protective dad who wants the best for his son stopping at nothing to make him safe. The only thing that was disappointing about this film was the way the ending left no explanation of what had gone on. It left me having to think about why It ended like it did. But still, I was impressed with the film and defiantly recommend it too people who enjoy films like ‘war of the worlds’ and ‘the day after tomorrow’ or AKA disaster films ;)

The Unborn Review

- David Day
The title says it all ‘The unborn’ doesn’t sound like the most pleasant film you will ever watch. I will have admit that this was my first horror movie to watch at a cinema, in the past being scared to death wasn’t my ideal movie choice ;)
The plot of the film was very cleverly written by the director/Writer David Goyer (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, Batman Begins) the film gives the story of Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) a young women in anger because of her mum leaving her when she was only a child. Without giving too much away the first scene in the film left me quite nervous (in a good way) too see what was yet to come. Casey becomes haunted by a tortured child who leads back to World War 2 and the affairs of the Nazis. The Ghost scares her at every given opportunity of the film and never failed to make me jump out my seat. Casey decides after the countless events that an exorcism is required to relieve her from the haunting of the Ghostly child. but not all goes to plan.
I thought that Atticus Shaffer who played Matty Newton “one of the freaky children” done an amazing job of freaking me out! Also Odette Yustman done a great job of projecting her emotion all through the film and made you imagine being in a similar situation of hers. I really did enjoy this film and highly recommend it if you are looking for a great Friday night horror film :) This is definitely the best film I have seen so far in 2009 :D Go See it!

Yes man is yet another Carrey Classic, showing Jim at what he does best. Although it is weirdly close to Jim Carrey’s 1996 film ‘liar liar’ it still had me laughing all the way through.
For those who are unfamiliar with the plot of the film it is the story of a depressed bank worker called Carl Allen (Jim Carrey) who would rather spend time alone watching DVDs then go out, have fun and generally live life on the edge. With him still not over his quite so recent fiancée, Carl becomes incapable of saying ‘yes’ and instead says no to every given opportunity. His life dramatically begins to change when he is leaded into a gospel which requires him to say ‘Yes’ to every opportunity.
I felt that Zooey Deschanel and Rhys Darby who played Allison and Norman in the film did a great job and helped Jim all through the film with the great comedy he gives. As Jim Carrey Is one of my most favourite comedic actors on the Cinema screen, After watching Dumb and Dumber those many years ago Jim has drawn me in with almost every film he has done so there was no doubt that I would be visiting the cinema to see ‘Yes Man’.
Overall I felt the director Peyton Reed did a great job with the film and a great job in capturing Jim Carrey once again at his best. I would highly recommend this film to people from the age of 12 to 40 because of its wide range of comedy and I really think you should consider seeing this film whilst it is still screening at the Cinema.

This is the first buffet style restaurant I have ever been too and I must say first impressions where great! With a great range of food buffet star offers meals for many different food types. The friendly responses off the staff helped me feel comfortable and relaxed at my table and when we requested a birthday treat for one of my friends a few seconds later 'Happy Birthday' Was played on the speakers as one of the staff brought a dessert over to my friend. The only down side to the restaurant is its decoration, the outside of the restaurant seems to let down the rest of the service given. But overall I highly recommend this buffet based restaurant and really think that the price is really reasonable.
