This spring, the Daily Mail Ideal Home Show will bring together the very latest in home design, must-have products and accessories, exciting innovation and expert advice from the UK’s interior design world - all under one roof.

Always at the forefront of new domestic design, this year’s show celebrates the centenary of the event and draws on the household objects that have gained mass appeal as a direct result of the show. Take the toaster or the electric kettle, pioneered at the 1920 event, or even the microwave in 1947. All these first hit British consumers at the Ideal Home Show and sparked a history of generation-defining innovation. This is the principal inspiration for the 2008 show

Here are some do-not-miss things happening at this year’s event:

Century Street - a nostalgic journey through time, charting the dramatic changes to furniture, colours, fabrics, styles and advertising from the first show in 1908 to date. 

The Ultimate Eco House - a realised design for a truly eco-friendly single story family home, designed as a ’kit’ to be assembled in just three weeks!

Innovation Nation - the centrepiece of the Centenary show; a celebration of British design talent and its impact on all our home lives.

Concept Products - the annual collection of the latest that young designers from across the country’s universities are putting out for your home
