Mr Justice Bennett will deliver the details of his decision in private at the High Court in London, but he will then take instructions from the parties over releasing any of the details.

The judge is believed to be trying to end the speculation over how much Sir Paul must find from his reputed £825 million assets to bring his marriage to an end.

Some lawyers have claimed it could be the biggest contested divorce settlement in British legal history with a final payout of about £60 million.

More conservative estimates put the figure at about £10 million because of the short duration of the marriage and the fact that most of Sir Paul’s wealth was established decades before the couple met.

Even if one or both of the McCartneys decide to keep the divorce judgment a secret, the whole matter could come into the open if either side is unhappy with the ruling and decides to go to the Court of Appeal.

Target date set in Macca divorce battle - Feb 28 2008
A target date of March 17 has been set for the ruling on the epic divorce battle between Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills.

Mr Justice Bennett is currently dealing with cases in Cardiff but is expected to return to London to give his ruling.

Sources say the judge may approach the parties over whether they would agree to allowing parts of the ruling to be made public.

Any public version would almost certainly be heavily revised but would aim to end the speculation on how much ex-Beatle Sir Paul is paying the former model from his reputed £825 million fortune.

There have been reports of demands from Miss Mills varying between £10 million and £60 million to end the four-year marriage.

If either she or Sir Paul do not agree with the judge’s verdict, the case could go to the Court of Appeal where High Court Family Division secrecy ends and the whole of the case will be in the public eye.

Macca honoured at Brits - Feb 21 2008
Sir Paul McCartney put his troubles to one side as he was honoured for outstanding achievement at the Brit Awards.

The former Beatle has spent the past week locked in a bitter divorce battle with estranged wife Heather Mills.

But he found time between court appearances to rehearse for the Brits, and closed this year’s ceremony with a 15-minute medley of hits which earned him a standing ovation from the 8,000-strong audience.

The night’s other star performer was Amy Winehouse, who sang not once but twice. Making her return to the British stage after a stint in rehab and fresh from her five-time Grammy success, she belted out Valerie and Love Is A Losing Game.

Amy seemed a little out of sync to begin with but soon hit her stride, and the audience lapped it up. There were other impressive performances from Leona Lewis, Kaiser Chiefs and a duet from Klaxons and Rihanna.

But the night really belonged to Macca. Those expecting a reference to his recent woes were left disappointed, as Sir Paul gave only the briefest of speeches.

"I’m hugely privileged to have been in the Quarrymen, the Beatles, Wings and the solo stuff," he said. "I just think British music is the best."

His medley included Beatles classics Hey Jude, Lady Madonna and Get Back completed the set, along with Dance Tonight, from his latest album Memory Almost Full.

Macca modest about music honour? - Feb 20 2008

Sir Paul McCartney apparently remains self-effacing over his Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution To Music.

The Beatles legend, who is expected to receive a thunderous reception when he collects the award, reportedly said it was "good to get any award, any time, any place, anywhere", but that he didn’t know why he was getting it.

Biography

Paul McCartney was born in Liverpool on June 18, 1942 to James and Mary McCartney. He was raised in the city and educated at The Liverpool Institute.

At the age of 15 he met John Lennon. Together with George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they formed the most successful group in the history of music--the Beatles.

Since the Beatles, Paul has released 21 albums and staged three world tours, while evolving into classical composition, film-making and actively campaigning for ecology and animal rights After the Beatles split up in 1970, Paul embarked on a solo career before forming the group Wings with his wife, American Linda McCartney, which had some success but never to the scale of the Beatles, That has never yet again been seen, (even now)

His solo period during the eighties culminated with charity performances at Live Aid and for The Prince of Wales Trust, leading him to get back on the road again. Since 1990, Paul McCartney has traveled over 800,000 miles in concert through 22 countries, setting, along the way, the Guinness world record for the largest stadium crowd in the history of rock and roll--184,000 in Rio de Janeiro. During the same time, he also established the "MTV Unplugged" vogue and then performed his acoustic show in clubs and pubs around Europe.

In 1991, Paul staged the performance of his first classical work, "The Liverpool Oratorio", which has since been performed in more than 50 cities worldwide. In 1995--the 30th anniversary of his most acclaimed song, "Yesterday"-- Paul’s second classical work, "A Leaf," was performed at a benefit concert he organized for the Royal College of Music at St. James Palace. Paul composed a major orchestral work, commissioned to mark the 100th anniversary of EMI Records.

In recognition of his work for all music, Paul was recently appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Music, the U.K.’s highest musical honour. Aside from his music, Paul McCartney campaigns for Greenpeace, Friends of The Earth and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. He and his wife Linda are the new patrons of the British Vegetarian Society. He is also the chief patron of The Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, a new school similar to New York’s High School of the Performing Arts, which will open in his hometown in 1996. Paul has also developed his interest in film-making. His first production, "Daumier’s Law," won the top prize in 1992 at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards.

His latest short feature, "Grateful Dead, A Photofilm," will be entered in the London Film Festival at the invitation of the British Film Institute. He was also knighted by the Queen and made a ’Sir’ Paul and Linda had three children between them as well as Linda daughter from a previous marriage, which Paul adopted as his own. Linda died of breast cancer in 1998, she was only 56.

All of their children are a success in their own right Stella McCartney is head designer at Gucci after a very successful stint as head designer for Chloe and daughter Mary is a successful photographer just as her mother Linda was before her.

Three years after the death of his first wife Paul met Heather Mills at a charity event where Mills was raising financial assistance for the Heather Mills Trust, a foundation providing artificial limbs to war victims across the globe. Mills, a former swimsuit model, lost her left leg below the knee in 1993 after being hit by a police motorcyclist.
