Paris: I want to leave a mark on the world - Sept 16 2007
Paris Hilton has vowed to change her image after being jailed for 23 days for breaking her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.
"There are a lot of bad people in LA. Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties -- it was a fantasy," the 26-year-old tells Newsweek magazine in its next issue.
"But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world."
Paris says she is now committed to using her celebrity status for the greater good. Next month, she plans to go to Rwanda to bring attention to the African country.
"I’m scared, yeah. I’ve heard it’s really dangerous," she says. "I’ve never been on a trip like this before."
The heiress, accompanied by a children’s charity called Playing For Good, will visit schools and health-care clinics as part of a five-day charity mission. The trip will be filmed.
"I love having everything documented," says Paris, who hopes to turn the footage into a film.
"It shows people what everyday life is like for me, how hard I work. There are a lot of misconceptions about me."
Paris says her dating life is not as wild as the tabloids make it out to be.
"I’ve been linked to so many guys, but there’s nothing romantic going on at all," she says. "I get along better with guys than girls. I trust them more. They don’t get all girly and mean. Girls have drama."
Paris Hilton planning Rwanda visit - Sept 27 2007
Paris Hilton plans to visit Rwanda as part of her post-jail commitment to use her celebrity status to bring attention to social causes.
"I’ll be going in November, after I get back from filming my movie," she tells E! Online.
"There’s so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help," Hilton says.
The 26-year-old hotel heiress-actress vowed to use her fame to bring attention to social causes after serving a 23-day jail sentence earlier this year for an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction.
"I want to visit more countries where poverty and children’s issues are a big concern," she says.
"I know there’s a lot of good I can do just by getting involved and bringing attention to these issues."
Hilton co-stars with Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega in Repo! The Genetic Opera, a horror rock movie about organ harvesting.
Meanwhile, Hilton says she is planning to add eco-friendly touches to her new home in Beverly Hills, California.
"I just bought the house and haven’t been able to work on it yet," she says. "But I intend to."
Paris Splashes Out on New Mansion - Sept 10 2007
Paris Hilton has reportedly splashed out a cool 5.9 million dollars on a plush new pad in Beverly Hills.
People.com reports that the 26-year-old hotel heiress has brought the 7,000 square foot mansion, which sports five bedrooms and five bathrooms, for its private setting.
The house also has a fitness room which the star apparently intends to convert into a shoe closet, her uncle, real estate agent Mauricio Umansky of Hilton & Hyland, said.
He also said Paris looked at more than a dozen properties before settling on the Mediterranean-style house, which also offers shared tennis courts.

She might be set to inherit an estimated $20m but that hasn’t stopped Paris turning her hand to a variety of ’jobs’ including TV star ? on The Simple Life, in which ex friend Nicole also starred ? movie star (with cameo appearances in Zoolander and The Cat in The Hat followed by a starring role in House of Wax), writer, albeit of her own autobiography, and model. These extra jobs are thought to have netted her around an extra $6m, a tidy sum which no doubt more than makes up for the ridicule Paris faces daily.
More recently Paris has get in on the music industry, founding Heiress Records on which she will produce her own debut record ? first single ’Screwed’ has already been leaked and, naturally, slated. She has also hit the headlines for becoming engaged to fellow heir Paris Latsis with whom she is regularly seen on the LA and New York party scene.
