Paris talks about Benji - Mar 17 2008
Paris Hilton has discussed her new romance with Benji Madden for the first time.

"I'm really happy!" she told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show. "I feel very safe and secure. He's a great guy.

"He's been my friend for a couple of years now, and we're really happy," she added, revealing that Benji, a guitarist for the band Good Charlotte, was beside her while she did the interview.

She also commented on the recent photographs which showed the couple wearing matching glitzy BM and PH rings.

"That was a very special present I got - he's really sweet," said Paris, who added that her parents approve of her relationship with the rocker. "They're really happy for me."

Paris was forced to reiterate her romance was genuine when Ryan repeatedly teased her that it was a spoof for Ashton Kutcher's new E! prank show, on which Paris is appearing.

"This is not for Pop Fiction," Paris insisted. "It's not a hoax."

Benji's twin brother Joel is dating Paris's best pal Nicole Richie.

Paris Hilton has apparently been spotted stepping out and about in Los Angeles with a new man.

People.com reports that the socialite has been photographed holding hands with Benji Madden, guitarist for band Good Charlotte, whose twin brother Joel is dating Paris’s best pal Nicole Richie.

The news comes just two weeks after it was announced that Benji had split from his fiancée Sophie Monk.

"Yes, they are dating. It’s pretty serious," a source told People about Paris and Benji, who have been spotted shopping in Hollywood’s Fred Segal, lunching with Benji’s mum and snuggling up in a booth at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

"They’ve been dating about three weeks," another source told E! Online. "Just kind of quietly hooking up and getting to know each other better. But so far, he’s really into her. And Paris really likes him, too."

Apparently Nicole Richie is pretty chuffed to hear that the pair have begun dating.

"She loves it," says a friend. "Paris and Nicole are like sisters. And now that they are dating brothers, it’s just a great setup. Plus, everyone thinks Benji could be really good for Paris. He’s very mature and grounded, like his brother."

It seems Paris Hilton’s latest film venture hasn’t turned out to be all that hot.

According to People.com, romantic comedy The Hottie And The Nottie - starring the heiress, Joel David Moore, and Christine Lakin - only scored a disappointing 81 dollars per cinema screen on 111 screens, according to Box Office Mojo.

By comparison, Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson flick Fool’s Gold, which opened in the US on the same day, reportedly made over 2,000 dollars per screen on more than 3,000.

This comes after a whistle stop promotions tour by Paris, who went on the David Letterman show and also premiered the rom-com in LA and Dallas.

The star, who plays Cristabel Abbott in the film about a hot girl and her not so hot best friend, has apparently said she has had acting lessons to prepare her for Hottie and her next flick Repo! The Genetic Opera.
