"Another Hollywood movie star might have felt strange in a remote and impoverished area of Nepal, but actor Orlando Bloom seemed perfectly at ease," said a Unicef spokesman.
Orlando paints house black? - Dec 20 2007
Orlando Bloom has apparently shocked his celebrity neighbours in Los Angeles - by choosing to paint the outside of his house black.
The British-born Lord Of The Rings star, 30, lives on Outpost Drive, where most of the homes - including neighbours’ Scarlett Johansson and Charlize Theron - are reportedly painted white to reflect the sun.
One of Orlando’s neighbours was quoted by The Sun as saying: "Charlize and Scarlett were a bit taken aback."
The neighbour apparently added: "Most go for white, but Orlando went completely the other way."
But it seems no one is that disturbed and, as the neighbour continued in the paper, they have passed it off as one of Orlando’s quirky traits.
"It’s a bit weird, but that’s Orlando - he’s an original guy. Maybe he’s been listening to ’Paint it Black’ by the Rolling Stones," the neighbour apparently told the newspaper.
No crash charges for Orlando Bloom - Oct 29 2007
US prosecutors said they will not prosecute actor Orlando Bloom following a car accident in which two people were injured.
The 30-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean heartthrob told police he was being chased by paparazzi as he left an LA nightclub in the early hours of October 12.
It is claimed that when one photographer made a sudden lane change, Bloom swerved into some parked cars, injuring two passengers in his car.
Bloom was not injured and there was no evidence of alcohol or drug use.
Authorities decided not to prosecute Bloom because there was "insufficient evidence," said Jane Robinson, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.
Bloom in ’paparazzi chase’ accident - Oct 15 2007
Authorities are searching for a Hollywood paparazzo who may have caused Orlando Bloom to swerve and crash his car, injuring two passengers.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star told police he was being chased by paparazzi as he left an LA nightclub in his 2003 Toyota Matrix on Friday.
Bloom, 30, said a photographer in a silver or white vehicle made a sudden lane change and cut him off, said officer Ana Aguirre.
To avoid hitting the SUV, Bloom swerved but ended up crashing into two parked cars, Ms Aguirre said.
Although Bloom was not injured in the accident, two passengers in his car were hurt. Police said a 30-year-old woman in the front seat got cuts and bruises on her face, while a 35-year-old woman in the back seat fractured her neck. Both were treated at a local hospital. They were not identified.
In an email to The Associated Press, however, Bloom’s publicist Robin Baum said the woman in the back seat "sustained a minor neck injury".
Bloom spent the night at Cedars Sinai to be with his childhood friend who hurt her neck, Baum said.
"Orlando Bloom, who was in a minor car collision late last night, is grateful that no one was seriously injured," Baum wrote.
"Bloom called for help immediately following the accident."
Authorities confirmed Bloom filed a police report and spoke with investigators at the scene. "No alcohol was involved, and he wasn’t speeding," Aguirre said.

Struggling through many classes at school, it took several years for Orlando to be diagnosed as dyslexic but made the most of his time at St Edmund’s School by taking part in theatre projects. He joined the National Youth Theatre in London at sixteen where he gained a scholarship to work with the British American Drama Academy, while also taking bit parts in Casualty, Midsomer Murders and Smack the Pony. It was around this time that he picked up his first movie role, alongside Jude Law and Stephen Fry in Wilde.
In 1998 Orlando attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he fell from a roof terrace, breaking his back and facing permanent paralysis. However he quickly recovered and almost immediately was spotted by director Peter Jackson, who signed him up for the part of Legolas in the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy. Since this Orlando has gone stratospheric, appearing in numerous films including Pirates of the Caribbean, The Calcium Kid, Troy and Kingdom of Heaven. He now lives between London and LA and has an on/off relationship with fellow actor Kate Bosworth.
