Orlando romancing Bruce's girl? - Feb 27 2008
Orlando Bloom was apparently spotted cosying up to Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter at an Oscar bash.

The Hollywood heartthrob, 31, and 19-year-old Rumer were inseparable at Prince's glitzy £200,000 Academy Award party in Hollywood, reports the Daily Mirror.

A source said: "As soon as they got in, they sat very, very close to each other and the chemistry was electric. They were all over each other."

If Orlando is romancing Rumer, let's hope he has her famous dad's blessing - Bruce has previously admitted he's rather protective when it comes to his three daughters.

Last year the Die Hard star said: "I just tell [the boys] I want to meet them - that's the only thing I ask for. I just give them that look, that little look."

He joked: "I always put one of them in charge. If they bring a little group of guys over to the house to have a pool party or whatever, I just say, 'Dude, what's your name?' and he says, 'Uh, Cinjun.' I say, 'Cinjun, you're in charge. If anything happens to one of my daughters, I'm coming to you first, and then I'm going to kill all your friends right in front of you, and you'll be last.' Cinjun, if you're listening to this..."

Orlando lands Education role - Feb 20 2008

Orlando Bloom has apparently joined the cast of new movie An Education.

The Lord Of The Rings star will join Rosamund Pike, Emma Thompson and Peter Sarsgaard in the coming-of-age movie set in 60s London.

The film is based on British journalist Lynn Barber’s memoir and the screenplay has been written by Nick Hornby, author of hit novels High Fidelity and About A Boy, both of which have been made into successful movies.

The story centres around Jenny (played by rising British star Carey Mulligan), a clever and beautiful 17-year-old who is introduced to a glamorous new life in London and lead astray by the older and unsuitable David, played by Jarhead star Peter Sarsgaard.

Orlando will play his charming business partner Danny, and former Bond girl Rosamund will play his girlfriend Helen.

An Education is being produced by BBC Films and Endgame Entertainment and will be directed by award-winning Danish director Lone Scherfig.

Orlando Bloom has paid a four-day visit to schools and villages in a remote area of Nepal as a United Nations Children’s Fund international ambassador.

The 30-year-old received a warm welcome from local people and women in the villages smeared his forehead with red ’tikka’ and put garlands of flowers around his neck.

He also visited a local school, chatted to mums and looked in on projects to promote safe hygiene and encourage school attendance.

Orlando was also called on to perform a small role in a radio drama recorded by children. In the programme, which encourages teenagers to shares their worries, Orlando voiced the part of a guest at a hostel for homeless girls.

Biography

Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Bloom was born on January 13th 1977 in Canterbury into a rather complicated family – until the age of thirteen he believed that political activist Harry Bloom (who died when Orlando was 4) was his father. However, he was in fact the result of an affair between his mother Sonia and Colin Stone, who following Harry’s death became Orlando’s stepfather. He knew from an early age that he wanted to act, having watched the likes of Paul Newman and Daniel Day Lewis in movies.

Struggling through many classes at school, it took several years for Orlando to be diagnosed as dyslexic but made the most of his time at St Edmund’s School by taking part in theatre projects. He joined the National Youth Theatre in London at sixteen where he gained a scholarship to work with the British American Drama Academy, while also taking bit parts in Casualty, Midsomer Murders and Smack the Pony. It was around this time that he picked up his first movie role, alongside Jude Law and Stephen Fry in Wilde.

In 1998 Orlando attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he fell from a roof terrace, breaking his back and facing permanent paralysis. However he quickly recovered and almost immediately was spotted by director Peter Jackson, who signed him up for the part of Legolas in the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy. Since this Orlando has gone stratospheric, appearing in numerous films including Pirates of the Caribbean, The Calcium Kid, Troy and Kingdom of Heaven. He now lives between London and LA and has an on/off relationship with fellow actor Kate Bosworth.
