No Oscar parties for Noel? - Feb 27 2008
Noel Gallagher was apparently less than impressed when he failed to get into any of the star-studded post-Oscar parties.
The Oasis guitarist and a group of pals were keen to secure invites to Sir Elton John's swanky bash and Prince's £200,000 purple-themed party after the Academy Awards, reports the Daily Mirror.
The chart-topper contacted party organisers to try to get into the Hollywood events - where A-list stars like George Clooney, Johnny Depp and Sharon Stone were partying - but it seems he didn't manage to land a single ticket.
"Noel was texting the organisers trying to get in but they weren't having any of it," a source told the paper.
The 40-year-old rocker and his buddies eventually had to give up and go home.
The insider revealed: "In the end they all sloped off looking dejected."
Still, there's always next year, Noel.
Noel’s Blunt escape - Feb 26 2008
Noel Gallagher is apparently selling his Ibiza villa in a bid to escape James Blunt.
The Oasis rocker is unhappy with his £5.5 million holiday home because it is too close to that of the singer’s, according to The Sun.
A source said: "Noel has been going to Ibiza every summer for years. But he wants to find a new holiday destination.
"He’s fed up of hearing James Blunt bang on about Ibiza like he owns the place. It’s taken the charm out of it for him so he’s put his villa up for sale."
Noel, 40, bought the villa in 1999 for £2.5 million from Tubular Bells creator Mike Oldfield, and it still has some of the original custom-made carpets with the Tubular Bells symbol woven into them.
Noel and long-term girlfriend Sara Macdonald have enjoyed spending most of their summers there ever since, until Blunt bought a neighbouring villa in 2006.
He even wrote his hit single 1973 about the island’s club Pacha.
Oasis star Noel tops cool poll - Dec 21 2007
Oasis star Noel Gallagher is the coolest bloke in Britain, according to a survey of young men.
The singer may have celebrated his 40th birthday this year, but he was voted way ahead of young pretenders such as Arctic Monkey Alex Turner.
Footballer Steven Gerrard was second in the 100 Coolest British Men of 2007 list compiled by Zoo magazine. Doctor Who’s David Tennant was third - deemed to be cooler than current James Bond Daniel Craig, who was fourth.
David Beckham was fifth and Formula One star Lewis Hamilton sixth. Comedians Simon Pegg and Ricky Gervais were ranked seventh and eighth respectively, followed by boxer Joe Calzaghe.
Arctic Monkeys frontman Turner brought up the rear in 10th place.
While Noel headed the list, his younger brother Liam scraped in at 22.
Zoo editor Ben Todd said: "These inaugural awards have revealed some quite surprising results with Noel Gallagher, who has acquired something of an ’elder statesman’ role, topping the poll.
"It shows that he is someone young people today strive to be like - perhaps even more so than when Oasis dominated the charts a decade ago."
The list contained a handful of older stars, including Sir Paul McCartney at 55 and Sir Mick Jagger at 73. Elsewhere, Prince Harry made it to 37, although there was no place for his brother William. Simon Cowell was a late entrant at 98.

In April 1984, Peggy (Noel’s mother) took her three boys and left Tommy who is an alcoholic known for his violent mood swings. Noel has not had any contact with his father since then. Noel had planned to secretly wed girlfriend Meg Matthews on Valentine’s Day in 1997, deciding a quiet wedding in the UK would be impossible, they exchanged wedding vows at the Little Chapel of The West in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on June 5th 1997.
Their first child, a daughter named Anais, was born at London’s exclusive Portland Clinic on January 27, 2000. Noel and Meg were divorced in January 2001. Only two months after younger brother Liam announced his separation from wife Patsy Kensit, Noel announced, September 5th 2000, that he and wife Meg were going their separate ways.
It’s rumoured that Meg couldn’t stand living in the countryside and missed partying with her friends in London. Noel is now dating and living with Sara MacDonald in Marylebone. However he loves Brighton so much he has bought a home which they both spend most weekends at.
Sara works in public relations and met Noel at the Ibiza nightclub Manumission where she was working. Noel suffers from dyslexia, but succeeds at being Oasis’s songwriter and is the brains behind the group, his turbulent relationship with younger brother Liam has calmed down considerably and for the time being they can both be in the same room as each other.
