Martine 'thrilled' with show - Jan 30 2008
Martine McCutcheon has declared that she's "really thrilled" with the reception of her new TV show, Moving Wallpaper/Echo Beach.

Speaking at the South Bank Show Awards, she said: "I'm really thrilled and I know that ITV are really happy with it, apparently they're really happy with the audience that they've reached which is a younger audience - I think they're just waiting for it to go from strength to strength hopefully."

In the soap Echo Beach, Martine plays housewife Susan Penwarden - and the actress revealed she can't wait to go back to film more.

"We just all want to film together again because we absolutely genuinely got on like a house on fire in Cornwall," she gushed. "I don't think it's ever been the same since we left."

She added that whilst she doesn't read the press, she thinks positive criticism is important.

"There's always something that you can enhance on," she said. "There's always something that you can do to make a show better and I'm sure the producers and ITV will take on board any relevant comments and make it work."

Martine McCutcheon has apparently grabbed her own beauty series.

In The Truth About Beauty, the Echo Beach star will reportedly be joined by celebrity friends and ordinary women trying out the latest beauty treatments at an exclusive location in London.

Apparently there will also be an investigation into a non-invasive way of combating the signs of ageing.

Plus, it seems four women will undergo a six-week challenge to look younger through diet and exercise in a segment called Turn Back The Clock.

Martine told The Sun: "I’m really excited about this series.

"Like most girls I’m always reading about the latest lotions and potions.

"I’m looking forward to really getting under the skin of the beauty industry, to find out what actually works and what’s a waste of time and money."

The programme, a collaboration between UKTV Style and Glamour magazine, is scheduled to begin filming in March and airs on the digital channel next May.

Former EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon has said that being famous means that it is harder to meet the right kind of men.

The star, who has famously seen several high-profile relationships fail, described potential suitors saying: "They stare a lot because they probably think, ’I don’t know where to begin with her. What do I say? Do I pretend I don’t know who she is or I pretend I do know who she is?’."

And the 31-year-old, who is playing blowsy housefrau Susan in the new ITV soap Echo Beach, added: "The ones who are brave enough to come up are normally the ones who are a bit bolshy and not very nice and it’s probably the shy ones that you don’t get to meet who are the ones who could be really lovely."

But though Martine would not be drawn any further on whether she had a man in her life at the moment, she admitted that she had been seeing someone.

"I’m very happy at the moment and that’s all I can say about my love life," Martine revealed.

It seems that Martine McCutcheon is a home girl at heart - according to the Daily Express the star is thrilled to be back in Blighty and back in soap.

Since her days on the EastEnders, the 31-year-old has drifted through various roles and moved from London to LA.

But Martine, who is starring in new soap Echo Beach, has apparently revealed that she has found happiness by returning to her roots.
