Lindsay Lohan has insisted that her life and career is heading back in the right direction.

The 21-year-old actress-singer said that the multiple car accidents and stints in rehab in the past few years have put her life back into perspective.

"My life was distracted by certain things and that got in the way of work," she told People.com

"But now, I’m back on track and figuring out what’s next."

The starlet recently sparked controversy by appearing nude in a photo shoot for New York Magazine, where she emulated Marilyn Monroe, but her next role should be less scandalous - Lindsay is getting ready to shoot the comedy Ye Olde Times with Jack Black and David Arquette.

And it looks like work on her album, which sees her collaborating with Ne-Yo, is progressing well.

"I’m recording right now with Motown and being in the studio again has been really great," Li-Lo added.

"It’s all coming together."

Lohan settles car accident lawsuit - Feb 24 2008
A waiter trying to clean up against actress Lindsay Lohan has settled a lawsuit against her over a car accident.

"It’s been resolved," said Robert Klein, the lawyer for Raymundo Ortega, who settled for an undisclosed amount on Wednesday.

Lohan’s Mercedes-Benz collided with Ortega’s van as he was making a turn in October 2005. Although the California Highway Patrol concluded that Mr Ortega caused the accident by making an illegal U-turn, he sued Lohan seeking at least £105,000 in damages.

Mr Ortega’s suit claimed Lohan was fleeing paparazzi at the time and was under the influence of alcohol.

A message left with Lohan’s lawyer, David Ozeran, was not immediately returned. Her publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Mr Ozeran had said previously that there was no evidence Lohan was intoxicated.

Li-Lo in new film project? - Feb 22 2008
Lindsay Lohan is apparently set to star alongside Jack Black in new comedy Ye Olde Times.

E! Online reports the actress has signed on to appear in the film, which follows two rival renaissance fair troupes as they make their way through the competitive circuit.

At present, it’s unclear which character the Mean Girls beauty would play.

Since coming out of rehab last year, 21-year-old Lindsay has shot one film - the romantic tango-themed Dare To Love Me.

Her mum Dina recently confirmed to E! News that her daughter was in talks to star in two other big screen projects, though she didn’t reveal what they were.

Meanwhile, Li-Lo is also reportedly recording a new album which is said to have a hip hop vibe, and recently posed as Marilyn Monroe for a nude photo-shoot for New York magazine. It’s a decision which seems to have been a success - the mag’s website was said to have crashed when it published five additional photos of the star.

Lindsay Lohan’s mum Dina has apparently said she approves of recent shots of Li-Lo posing nude as Marilyn Monroe.

"It was very tastefully done," Dina told People.com of the magazine shoot.

"I looked at it as art, and as Lindsay doing a character. So I don’t look at them like it’s Playboy - she was being a character. So if you look at it that way, you can look at it as a mother."

Lindsay’s pictorial in the spring edition of New York magazine was a recreation of Monroe’s legendary 1962 photo shoot, which was shot by snapper Bert Stern. Stern also shot Lindsay’s pics.

Biography

Lindsay Dee Lohan was born on July 2 1986 in New York. It may be hard to remember when we see photos of a scantily clad Lohan out on the town with pals like Paris Hilton and Kate Moss but it wasn’t so long ago that she was a sweet faced child star.

Born to a wealthy family Lindsay was nonetheless put to work from an early age. At three she was signed to a modelling agency and quickly built up a portfolio of work with the likes of Toys R Us and Calvin Klein Kids. As a teen she appeared in numerous magazines such as Elle Girl and Bliss and in television commercials for Jell-O among others.

At ten years of age Lindsay bagged a role on American soap Another World which she soon abandoned when offered a big screen part in the remake of The Parent Trap in which she played twins. The part brought her to the attention of filmmakers throughout Hollywood and ensured future parts would roll on in.

Made for TV movies and a short lived sitcom part followed before Lindsay, then sixteen, was offered another cult remake - Freaky Friday - alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Two further teen flicks followed, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and the Clueless-esque Mean Girls. The success of the two movies cemented Lindsay’s status as Teen Queen. Closely followed by Herbie: Fully Loaded Lindsay hoped to make the transition to adult film star smoothly however 2006’s Just My Luck was not well received. More serious roles are set to follow in Georgia Rule, Speechless, A Woman of No Importance and The Best Time of Our Lives.

As well as acting Lindsay had taken the opportunity to showcase her musical skills in her films and before long she was taken under the wing of Mariah Carey’s ex Tommy Mottola. Her debut album, Speak, was released in 2004 with the single Rumours earning critical acclaim. 2005’s A Little More Personal included a dramatically intimate track aimed at her father who had spent much of Lindsay’s life in prison. She is currently working on a third album.

Since 2003 Lindsay has been regular tabloid fodder beginning with a rumoured feud with fellow teen actress Hilary Duff. Her weight has been a serious issue, with the actress admitting that she had ’nearly died’, before dedicating herself to getting her shape back. She has also gained the reputation of girl about town, partying hard with the likes of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton whilst dealing with a run of bad luck which has included three car crashes and some rumoured illnesses.
