Katie Holmes has her own Scientology ’handlers’ who follow her everywhere. The ’Batman Begins’ actress, the fiancée of Tom Cruise, attended a girls-only party held by US magazine In Style on Sunday (13.08.06) but took along an invited guest - one of her Scientology minders.

One partygoer is quoted: "You weren’t allowed to bring a guest with you. But Katie brought a guest, one of her Scientology ’handlers’. She was the only one that didn’t come alone. Katie’s minder kept a watchful eye and a close distance at all times. It was so creepy! You couldn’t really talk to her honestly and openly. "Katie looked dead in the eyes. She was not the same person she was before she met Tom. "Whenever Katie would leave the room, all the girls would talk amongst themselves about how strange she seemed and how bizarre the whole situation was."

Katie, 27, and Tom, 44, have reportedly been experiencing relationship difficulties recently as they cannot agree on their wedding. Tom wants a star-studded Scientology ceremony, but Katie - who was raised a Catholic - wants a small, traditional white wedding. The couple have a baby daughter together, Suri.

The ’Thank You for Smoking’ star - who gave birth to daughter Suri four months ago - is desperate to shed her post-baby weight to reprise her role as Rachel Dawes, Bruce Wayne’s love interest in the ’Batman Begins’ sequel.

A source told Australia’s NW magazine: "Katie has been told to be ready for filming the new ’Batman’ movie in January, which gives her plenty of time to get back in shape. But she has no intention of taking things slowly."

The 27-year-old - who is engaged to ’Top Gun’ actor Tom Cruise - has already hit the gym and put herself on a strict diet. The source added: "She’s already in the gym every day and is being super-strict about what she eats. She’s also doing yoga and has started kickboxing."

Rumours that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are going to tie the knot this week are hotting up. Speculation has been sparked after several huge tents and outdoor chandeliers were spotted being erected at the Scientology Celebrity Centre, in California. The ’Mission: Impossible III’ actor proposed to the former ’Dawson’s Creek’ star - who gave birth to their first child, Suri, in April - in Paris last year.

A source is quoted by website MollyGood.com as saying: "I live in Beachwood Canyon, right up the hill from the Scientology Celebrity Centre, and there is most definitely something going on soon. "I know that Tom and Katie have been there twice in the last week and now the centre is covered in tents and outdoor chandeliers. Huge planters are in the street to prevent anyone driving too close."

Meanwhile, is has been claimed the couple’s hairstylist, Oscar Blandi, has been booked "all weekend" for them. The increased speculation comes just days after Tom, 44, and Katie, 27, announced they will tie the knot at some point this year The ’Top Gun’ star’s spokesman Paul Blach said: "As far as I know, the plans are for late summer, maybe a bit later."
