The press have swarmed the small town of Shreveport, Louisiana, where Kate is shooting Mad Money - a heist comedy alongside Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton.

But a crew member tells the tabloid that she bought everyone "good" cupcakes, whilst another fan reveals that "it was a lot of pizza. We had veggie, sausage, pepperoni. It was good pizza."

And because the local climate frequently climbs into the triple digits (combined with debilitating humidity), Mrs Cruise even got everyone on set ice cream cones! Sounds like she has become very domestic since getting hitched.

Tom and Suri have also visited the set and caused quite a stir amongst the locals. "They all truly could not have looked happier," a witness says. "They were just like any other family in the South."

Suri Cruise has just celebrated her first birthday - but according to new reports, her daddy Tom wants mummy Katie Holmes to attend special Scientologist parenting classes.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Katie was quite offended by that."

The Hollywood insider is quoted as saying: "Can you imagine when you’re 28 and have your first child to be told you need to go to this church to become a better mom?"

A Scientology source has confirmed to the magazine that the special parenting classes do exist, although not whether Katie is set to attend.

Last week the couple celebrated their daughter’s birthday with a special party for friends and loved ones.

The actress told People.com in a recent interview that she loved being a parent.

The doting mummy added that Suri is "a beautiful little girl" saying: "I feel so honoured to be her mom, really."

Suri Cruise may be just a year old but that didn’t stop parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes from making sure she had a birthday party to remember.

A special lunch was held for the little girl at the couple’s Beverley Hills mansion, while the entertainment included dragonfly and butterfly-shaped pinatas, sweet-filled containers hung from trees which release their goodies after being hit with a stick, according People.com.

And to ensure their little one had a good day, TomKat weren’t skimping on the pennies, as Katie revealed in recently how Suri "loves just being outside right now" - so her big present was a gym set for the backyard, alongside a stack of books, balls and dolls.

A source close to the family said the birthday girl was just about old enough to appreciate it, as she was running around "walking and talking".

They added: "Tom and Suri kicked the ball around the lawn during the party."

Family and friends dined out on pizza, as well as cupcakes from Sprinkles, an exclusive bakery in Beverly Hills - which may not have been such a good idea with all those designer clothes around.

According to the source "Tom, Katie and Suri were wearing chocolate" by the end of the party.

Katie Holmes has apparently called in the police after getting frightened by the paparazzi in the town where she is shooting her new movie.

The actress is in Shreveport, Louisiana, to make Mad Money, co-starring Diane Keaton. It’s her first film since giving birth to daughter Suri a year ago.

According to the Us Weekly magazine website, the 28-year-old star got spooked by two photographers and her entourage called the local cops.
