Katie Holmes is apparently determined to kickstart her career after seeing her pal Victoria Beckham tour with the Spice Girls.

The 29-year-old former Dawson’s Creek actress wants to combine work with being around for her daughter Suri.

A source told Closer magazine: "Katie loves being a mum, but she feels her career has taken a back seat.

"She is ambitious and seeing her friend Victoria Beckham on stage with the Spice Girls really got her thinking."

Her husband Tom Cruise’s children Isabella, 14, and Connor, 12, also live with them.

"Katie looks up to Victoria and has seen how independent and strong she is in her own right and yet still a good wife to David and mother to her sons," the source continued.

"Katie has told Tom she’s love another child, but first she wants to do a film that has some gravitas in Hollywood to put herself back on the map."

Katie Holmes has revealed that she would love to have more kids - but her and hubby Tom Cruise are in no hurry.

"I’m in no particular rush. We’re enjoying our time right now," she says in the January issue of InStyle.

The former Dawson’s Creek actress, who turns 29 on December 18, admits she has her hands full with her one-year-old daughter, Suri.

She is also stepmother to Tom’s adopted kids with ex-wife Nicole Kidman - 15-year-old Isabella and 12-year-old Connor.

"Suri is talking up a storm, running around, so aware. She loves colouring and creating," Katie says.

"She’s a great mimic and dancer. She came to the photoshoot and was all into the shoes. I’m mostly shocked at how quickly she grows."

She reveals that Tom was the perfect coach when she gave birth to Suri.

"He was by my side the whole time. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive human being," Katie adds.

"He had the room ready, candles everywhere, pictures in frames. It was very homey and beautiful."

A spokesperson for Katie Holmes has reportedly dismissed rumours that the Hollywood actress is pregnant.

The spokesperson confirmed Tom Cruise’s wife is not expecting a second baby, telling Usmagazine.com: "She is not pregnant."

Speculation started when Katie was seen wearing a voluminous Balenciaga gown at a Berlin airport last week.

While the 28-year-old may not be expecting at the moment, a friend reportedly told the magazine that Katie is looking forward to having a sibling for one-year-old Suri in the future.

"Katie told me she wants another child with Tom. She talks about it a lot. But I do not know when exactly they plan to have another baby," the source said.

Meanwhile, could the Batman Begins actress be pounding the pavement in New York City’s marathon next month?

She has been spotted jogging in Berlin, where hubby Tom is filming. If she does take to the streets, Katie will be in fine company - super-cyclist and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong will also be running.
