Sorry fella’s, but Kate Beckinsale has got engaged to the director of her latest film.
What is it with actresses and their directors, first Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes, and now Kate and Len Wiseman, the director of Underworld. I guess it is a new take on the boss and the secretary scenario.
Les asked Kate on Saturday at a restaurant in Santa Monica, California. A member of staff from a nearby hotel said that Les had booked the presidential suite and filled it with lilies, which are Kate’s fave flowers, to celebrate! Ahh, get him!
Beckinsale moves to Chiswick - 24/04/03
Pearl Harbour star Kate Beckinsale is currently renting a two bedroom property here in Chiswick.
Kate will be commuting from here to LA where she still has a home and where she will be spending time with her new boyfriend film director Len Wiseman.
Kate Beckinsale was born 26 July 1973, her mother is Judy Loe, who has appeared in a number of British dramas and sitcoms, and continues to work as an actress.
Her father was Richard Beckinsale, he starred in a number of popular British television comedies during the 1970s, most notably the TV series Rising Damp and The Lovers. He passed away in 1979.
Kate attended the Godolphin and Latymer School in London for her grade and primary school education.
In her teens, she twice won the British bookseller W. H. Smith Young Writers’ competition--once for three short stories and once for three poems.
Her teens were a difficult time, as she battled with the eating disorder anorexia.
Her major acting debut came in a World War II television movie called One Against the Wind. Kate began attending Oxford University’s New College in the fall of 1991, majoring in French and Russian literature.
While in her first year at Oxford, Kate received her big break in Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.
Kate worked in three other films while attending Oxford, beginning with a part in the medieval historical drama Prince of Jutland (1993), cast as Ethel. I
n the spring of 1994 Kate left Oxford, after finishing three years of study. Kate appeared in the television satire Cold Comfort Farm filmed in London and East Sussex during late summer 1994.
Her big movie of 1995 was the romance/horror movie Haunted, starring opposite Adian Quinn and Sir John Gielgud.
In 1996 she starred in the film adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Emma and the comedy Shooting Fish.
She moved to the States and was living there for a few years, whilst there she was in the big budget movie Pearl Harbour alongside Ben Affleck.
Kate was dating actor Michael Sheen and in 1999 gave birth to their daughter Lily.
The couple had been together for over nine years but split up this year (2003).
Kate is currently in Prague filming Van Helsing, a vampire movie.
