The actress, who won an Oscar for her starring role in Erin Brockovich, will be honoured with the 22nd annual American Cinematheque award, after being chosen unanimously by the publicfunded organisation’s selection committee.

She had also been nominated for Oscars for her parts in Steel Magnolias and Pretty Woman, the film that shot her to mega-fame in 1990, as well as being one of the highest-paid actresses in the world and a three-time Golden Globe winner.

The ceremony will be broadcast exclusively on America’s AMC in December.

Julia Roberts has given birth to her third child, her spokeswoman said.

Henry Daniel Moder weighed eight-and-a-half pounds when he was born in Los Angeles on Monday morning.

The star’s spokeswoman Marcy Engelman told showbiz website People.com: "The Moder family is doing great."

Julia, 39, and husband Danny Moder, 38, are already parents to twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, who turned two in November.

Last month, it was announced that Julia has signed up to play renowned British wildlife conservationist Joan Root in the Hollywood star’s first collaboration with Working Title films since she starred in hit movie Notting Hill.

Root, 69, was shot in her bed by a gunman who broke into her Kenyan home in January last year.

The as-yet-untitled movie, announced at the Cannes Film Festival, was inspired by an article written about the groundbreaking wildlife documentary maker in Vanity Fair magazine.

It will follow Root’s earlier life making pioneering and award-winning wildlife documentaries with husband Alan Root while travelling the globe for more than 20 years.

After their divorce in 1981, Root returned to her home on Kenya’s Lake Naivasha where she devoted herself to saving it from the ecologically damaging flower-farm industry.

Police in Kenya investigated whether the white settler was killed as a result of a botched robbery or assassinated by people objecting to her conservation work.

Julia will also produce the movie, which will begin filming in Africa next year, with her company Red Om.

Julia Roberts is expecting her third child with her husband, cinematographer Danny Moder, her spokeswoman has confirmed to People magazine.

The baby is due this summer, Roberts’ publicist, Marcy Engelman, said in a story posted on the magazine’s website.

News of the pregnancy first appeared in the New York Post’s Page Six column.

Roberts, 39, and Moder, 37, have two-year-old twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, who were born in November 2004. The couple were married in July 2002 at Roberts’ home in Taos, New Mexico.

Roberts won the best actress Oscar in 2001 for Erin Brockovich. Her screen hits also include Steel Magnolias and Pretty Woman.

Roberts is the voice of the wise spider in the film adaptation of Charlotte’s Web.

She will next be seen in the drama Charlie Wilson’s War, directed by Mike Nichols and also starring Tom Hanks, scheduled for release next year.

She made her Broadway debut this spring in a revival of Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain.
