Julia to play divorcee? - Jan 29 2008
Julia Roberts is apparently set to play a divorcee in new movie Hothouse Flowers.

The Pretty Woman has also signed on to produce the film, which is a big screen adaptation of Margot Berwin's upcoming novel of the same name, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The actress, who recently starred alongside Tom Hanks in Charlie Wilson's War, will reportedly play a woman who quits her high powered Manhattan job and heads off to find some adventure following the collapse of her marriage.

So far there's no word on who else is set to star in the film or when it's expected to arrive in cinemas.

Julia, 40, will next be seen in Fireflies In The Garden. The movie, which will see the actress sharing the screen with the likes of Hayden Panettiere, Emily Watson and Willem Defoe, follows a family struggling to cope after an unexpected tragedy.

Julia’s ’pop culture fast’ - Jan 14 2008

It’s not just the public who can moan about the state of popular culture today - Julia Roberts has admitted she finds it all too much.

"I’ve actually gone on a pop culture fast," the Charlie Wilson’s War actress revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

"The TV shows and gossip magazines - it seems so polluting and toxic now. It’s exhausting just looking at a newsstand these days. Your eyes cross. You can’t even focus."

The mother-of-three, 40, added: "People aren’t as interested in making a cool movie or constructing interesting characters. Now it’s just about being big and shiny and fabulous."

Julia plays big-haired Southern socialite Joanne Herring, starring opposite Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman, in the political tinged drama, which is up for five Golden Globes.

"When I hear people call this a ’war’ movie, I don’t know what they’re talking about," she said.

"It’s really just a movie about three people. And the tone of it is so original. It goes from lofty to light to funny to interesting. It’s like watching Cirque du Soleil."

Julia’s domestic bliss - Jan 11 2008
Julia Roberts has apparently opened up about her happy family life with husband Danny Moder and their three children.

The actress, 40, who’s back on the big screen alongside Tom Hanks in Charlie Wilson’s War, met her cameraman hubby on the set of The Mexican in 2000, after a failed marriage to country singer Lyle Lovett.

She’s quoted by the Daily Mirror as saying: "Danny’s so great and supportive. He’s just my favourite guy. I think that in any good relationship you bring out the best in each other and you strive to make each other happy and strong."

Julia, who has twins Phinneaus and Hazel, three, and seven-month-old baby Henry, said teamwork was the key to their domestic bliss.

"We are five people, all with our needs and desires. So far we’ve been lucky. It’s worked out really well."

The couple split their time between homes in Venice, California, New York and a ranch in Taos, Mexico.

She added: "Being the mother of three children keeps me busy and running around pretty good. That’s about all I have time for these days.

"I’m pretty happy with the way things have gone for me, so if it all comes to a screeching halt tomorrow, I wouldn’t be too concerned."
