Jonathan show to go festive? - Dec 19 2007
Apparently Jonathan Ross will be signing off his current run of his Friday night show in seasonal style this week.

And with topical guests including jungle diva Janice Dickinson and king of the jungle Christopher Biggins on the the Friday Night With Jonathan Ross sofa, the show will be brimming with festive fun.

Apparently Janice will dish the dirt on her fellow camp mates.

She says: "Lynne wasn't easy, we're both abrasive bitches."

And regarding Biggins, she reveals: "Biggins can handle anything, he's a warrior, I'll give him that."

But Janice's description of herself may raise a few eyebrows as the star says: "I'm a softie... I was honoured to do this show because it showed me I could be vulnerable."

Christopher meanwhile, dispels rumours that he might be doing a chat show: "I'd like to bring entertainment to Saturday night television, a variety show, Biggins' Big Night!...(but) I don't want to do a talk show. So many people who've done it have failed miserably.

Viewers can also expect an appearance from cricketing star Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff who talks about his colourful reputation: "I'm just unfortunate, I keep getting caught!"

There will also be music from Mark Ronson featuring Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs and Candie Payne and aan ppearance from Office star Stephen Merchant.

Ross slammed over awards show jibe - Dec 7 2007

The National Union of Journalists has hit out at Jonathan Ross after the host of the British Comedy Awards said he was worth "1,000 BBC journalists".

Ross, who earns a reported £6 million a year from the corporation, made the quip while also joking about the spate of TV scandals.

His comment came as the corporation prepares to close 2,500 posts across the BBC.

Ross also said organisers of the show were "more nervous than the teddies at a Sudanese branch of Hamleys" while TV presenter Fern Britton also caused controversy when she called a giant bear which came out on stage "Mohammed" in reference to the jailing of Gillian Gibbons.

Jeremy Dear, NUJ general secretary, said of Ross’s statement about his worth: "Comments made by Jonathan Ross last night are obscene as they come at a time when thousands of his fellow BBC colleagues are facing losing their jobs.

"Whilst it may be a joke to him, the reality is not a laughing matter to those who have the axe hanging over their heads."

Viewers may never get to see the awards after they were not broadcast live for the first time in their history.

ITV "suspended" the coverage after it discovered that viewers in the 2005 show were ringing to vote for the People’s Choice award after Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway had already won.

Ross pours scorn on comedy’s big night - Dec 6 2007

British Comedy Awards host Jonathan Ross heaped more embarrassment on the event as it went ahead without being broadcast.

The controversy that has dogged the broadcasting industry over faked phone-ins and ITV’s decision to "suspend" broadcast of Britain’s most watched awards after they were caught up in the scandal, dominated the night.

Jonathan, hosting the awards, joked to the audience: "Up until two days ago we were holding this event in an open prison. We’re still in the dock but (Chris) Langham is free," he said of the comedy actor, who was jailed for downloading child porn.

He added: "We don’t know for sure if this will ever go out or not so if you win an award this year, like most of the telephone votes it doesn’t really count and you will still be charged."

Biography

Born in Leytonstone, London on November 17 1960 Jonathan Ross has undoubtedly become the voice (and the loud suit) of the BBC over the last few years.

He began his career in television as a researcher but in 1987 made his mark with The Last Resort With Jonathan Ross, a late night chat show.  Over the years he became increasingly popular, hosting Comic Relief, It’s Only TV But I Like It and appearing on They Think It’s All Over.

In 1999 he took over from Barry Norman as the face of Film (insert year here), which allowed him to indulge his love of the big screen and, in particular, Far Eastern cinema.  Having previously hosted shows on Virgin and Radio One he is now a regular presenter on Radio Two and was voted as having the Sexiest Male Voice in a survey by Trojan Condoms, despite having a rhotacism (meaning he pronounces an R as W).  His controversial BBC salary also covers Ross’ own TV show Friday Night With Jonathan Ross.

Jonathan is married to fellow TV presenter and journalist Jane Goldman, they were hitched in 1988 when Jane was just eighteen.  They have three children, Betty Kitty, Harvey Kirby and Honey Kinney and live in London with several bizarre pets, inlcuding sheep and lizards.
