A tribute to Jeremy - April 04
Next year will be the tenth anniversary since most esteemed Clapham resident Jeremy Brett died. A tribute group wants the opinion of MyClapham readers as to the best way to commemorate him.

Jeremy by all accounts was a very nice man as well as a fine actor, and his fans span all ages and borders. Ideas discussed by the group so far are:

Naming a part of Clapham Common after him, even if a garden within the Common
Naming a theatre or street after him, in the West End, Berkswell or Clapham (a primary concern being not to inconvenience any residents or business owners in any way)
Naming a new variety of rose after him
Naming a star after him
A commemorative stamp honouring Jeremy

Readers of MyClapham are welcome to add their opinions on these suggestions and make others.

The Sherlock Holmes Museum
It pretends to be the right address, but in fact Abbey National claims that honour. Instead the museum is at 239 Baker St, and has an impressive re-creation of Holmes and Watson’s sitting room, bedrooms and two more display rooms and artifacts.

Sherlock Holmes Memorabilia Co.
Across the street at 230 Baker is this combination museum/emporium whose upstairs contains an exhibit of many of the props used in the popular Granada TV series starring Jeremy Brett.

The Sherlock Holmes pub
For nearly 50 years the pub has stood at 10 - 11 Northumberland St. It is housed in the former Northumberland Hotel, scene of some of the opening action of "The Hound of the Baskervilles.
