Jennifer's gruelling night shoots - Mar 11 2008
Jennifer Ellison has revealed that night-time filming for her latest horror movie role was tough.

The Cottage - in which the former Brookside star plays feisty kidnap victim Tracey - takes place entirely under cover of darkness, so filming started at 8pm and would go on until 5am in the morning.

After starring in the West End production of Chicago and again on tour last year, you'd think Jennifer would be used to such gruelling schedules, but apparently not.

"It was really tiring," she admits. "We kind of had sleep deprivation, which would send people delirious and it was freezing, absolutely freezing.

"I was the only person who wasn't wearing a jacket so it was very, very, very, very challenging!"

But don't worry, when she wasn't needed on set, Jennifer kept her former glamour model body warm with "five jackets, hot water bottles and stuff."

"I literally got woken up at one point and sat by a fire, by a little heater. Reece (Shearsmith, her co-star) and I fell asleep and then woke up to 'come on, ready for you on set'. It was really difficult!"

Jen loves film’s gory details - Mar 10 2008

Jennifer Ellison has revealed how the prosthetics team had their work cut out on her new horror film The Cottage.

The film contains realistic if gruesome injuries including a farmer’s machine-mangled face, a pick-axed leg, guts spilling from a stomach and several severed heads.

And the former Chicago star loved every minute of watching them take shape.

"We just had to stand there and get it all done to us. But it was very interesting," she says.

"I’d never done anything like this before. Seeing how it all works and how things come together and how they make it happen was just fascinating."

Was Jennifer scared by the effects on the big screen?

"We know how it’s all done, we know how it’s all filmed, all the little tricks and things, so I just thought it was funny rather than upsetting," she says.

And the film - in which her character Tracey is kidnapped and held hostage in a remote cottage - hasn’t put her off hiring a holiday hideaway.

"It’s a script, it’s make believe, so it’s all cool... I love the countryside and I love nature and stuff. I’ve got two dogs, so I try to get out walking as much as I can."

Jennifer’s assets prove a distraction - Mar 6 2008
Jennifer Ellison’s cleavage was apparently so distracting during filming of her new movie that scenes kept having to be reshot.

The former Brookside actress stars in horror movie The Cottage alongside League Of Gentleman star Reece Shearsmith, but he has confessed he kept getting side-tracked by her 32DD chest, according to the Daily Star.

Reece, 38, said: "During the filming I had to spend a lot of time with her. And Jen’s breasts were a massive distraction!

"There is a scene where I am mesmerised with her chest and she headbutts me and breaks my nose!

"At one point they are shoved right in my face. It wasn’t me - it was the character that has to stare at them. Well, that is what I tell everyone!"

Jennifer, 24, is kidnapped in the film and taken to the cottage by a psycho killer. The movie was shot in a remote cottage on the Isle of Man.

The Hell’s Kitchen star said making The Cottage, which is out on March 14, was a "brilliant laugh".

Biography

Jennifer Ellison was born on May 1, 1983 and must have known she was going to be a celeb, as she had sat on her local chip shop counter and bellowed ’My name’s Jennifer Ellison and one day I’m going to be famous!" when she was just two years old.

She acted throughout school and trained as a ballet dancer, but then went into television. She wrote to Brookside aged nine to see if their were any roles for her, and although there wasn’t then, by the time Jennifer was fourteen, there was. Jenny’s character of Emily Shadwick dominated Brooksides storylines for five years, until she decided to go back to her first love of singing and dancing. Jennifer released a cover version of Transvision Vamp’s Baby I Don’t Care in the summer of 2003 and is working on an album, as well as breaking into the movies! She and boyfriend Tony have a house in Liverpool, as well as living in L.A whilst Jennifer lands more movie roles. I think that’s the idea anyway.
