Girls Aloud's KitKat cash in - Mar 7 2008
Girls Aloud are apparently to become the faces of a new low-calorie KitKat bar.
The girls are in talks to front the £10 million ad campaign for Senses, a 165 calorie chocolate bar aimed at women, according to The Daily Star.
A source told the newspaper: "There are a few final details to be agreed, but KitKat are confident Girls Aloud will be fronting their launch campaign.
"It is worth nearly £10 million and they believe it's the biggest deal the girls have ever done."
The Cheryl Cole, 24, Nadine Coyle, 22, Sarah Harding, 26, Nicola Roberts, 22 and Kimberly Walsh, 26, could get £500,000 each for starring in the new TV advert, poster and newspaper ads, as well as having their latest tour sponsored by the chocolate bar.
The Call The Shots singers are said to be "very excited" by the deal.
The new low calorie KitKat will have praline-filled fingers and cost 45p.
Girls Aloud song pulled? - Jan 31 2008
Girls Aloud apparently had a song about socialites pulled from their latest album because the lyrics were deemed too offensive.
The track Hoxton Hero apparently sees the fab fivesome have a pop at wannabes who hang out in London’s Hoxton area and the party set in Primose Hill, reports the Daily Star.
A source was quoted as saying: "Girls Aloud have always pushed the pop envelope. But when this track reached the ears of their record label a few people started getting really twitchy. It was all set to go on Tangled Up when it was decided at the last minute to whip it off so as not to offend anyone."
Lyrics reportedly included: "Just cos your dad knew the Rolling Stones/ You’ve got the Primose set in your cell phone/ Don’t kid yourself you’re an indie clone."
The girls are due to release their next single Can’t Speak French on March 17.

Who ever thought that when reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals created Girls Aloud that they would become not only a pop phenomenon but actually credible? It’s sometimes hard to remember that this chart topping girl group started life as a group of wannabes picked by Louis Walsh, Geri Halliwell and Pete Waterman. Almost as hard as it is to remember their rival boy band One True Voice.
The original band was made up of Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Tweedy, Sarah Harding, Hazel Kaneswaren and Nicola Ward. However when Hazel was discovered to be too old and Nicola refused to sign the contract (she thought the girls were being swizzed when it came to money…who’s kicking themselves now?) runners up Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh were drafted in. Managed by X Factor’s Louis the girls released their first single, the surprisingly attitude-filled Sound of the Underground at Christmas 2002 and quickly whipped One True Voice in to shape by hitting number one.
Where most reality singers would have faded into obscurity after a couple of singles Girls Aloud followed in the footsteps of Lemar and Will Young, releasing single after single as well as a hit album, also called Sound of the Underground, which was kept off of the number one spot by Justin Timberlake’s debut. However, the album went platinum after the release of Jump, which featured on the soundtrack to Brit flick Love Actually.
The trip to the top wasn’t all plain sailing for Girls Aloud though, in June 2003 Cheryl was convicted of assaulting toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa at a
A third album, Chemistry, brought not only further singles but true celebrity status for Cheryl who married England footballer Ashley Cole 2006 as well as Nadine who hooked up with Hollywood actor Jesse Metcalfe. Meanwhile Sarah was also rumoured to be dating Stephen Dorff. Despite rumours of a split, with tabloids claiming that Sarah had plans for a solo career following the release of a Greatest Hits compilation, The Sound of Girls Aloud, and a cover of Tiffany’s I Think We’re Alone Now, the girls assure their fans that they have plenty more hits still in them.
