George praises ’funny’ Matt - Sept 25 2007
George Clooney has spoken about his friendship with fellow Hollywood hunk Matt Damon, saying he has a great sense of humour.
The 46-year-old actor, who teamed up with Matt for the Ocean’s films, told Hello magazine: "He’s a great guy. He’s 10 years younger than me and I’m impressed to see that he’s much more concerned politically and socially than I was at his age.
"Also he has a great sense of humour. We can spend entire evenings together saving the world and laughing our heads off."
And it seems that a fair amount of good-natured rivalry exists between the pair.
George revealed: "The other day he sent me a very serious article from the New York Times about the actors who earn more than 20 million dollars a movie.
"At the end of it, the writer had said that Matt was the only person these days who you could really build a project around, that his films generate hundreds of millions of dollars," he added.
"Matt had added his own little message, saying: ’Take that, sexy guy!’"
Clooney breaks rib in US bike crash - Sept 23 2007
Hollywood star George Clooney and his companion were injured when their motorcycle collided with a car in New Jersey.
Clooney suffered a broken rib and scrapes while his passenger, Sarah Larson, broke her foot in the collision on Friday.
The two were treated at Palisades Medical Centre in North Bergen and released, Clooney’s spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, said.
"He’s doing fine," Rosenfield said. "He has a broken rib, it’s very painful and it’ll take a long time to heal."
Clooney and Larson were travelling north on Boulevard East and sped up to pass a car on the right that was preparing to make a right turn, Weehawken police Sgt Sean Kelly said. Both were wearing helmets.
It was not known whether the car’s driver, whose identity was not immediately released, signalled, Kelly said. The accident was under investigation.
"It’s a he-said, she-said right now, but you can’t pass on the right in Weehawken or anywhere in Jersey," Kelly said.
Rosenfield said the accident occurred when the vehicle signalled a left-hand turn, but turned right and struck Clooney’s motorcycle.
George V Brad - Sept 10 2007
George Clooney has spoken about the rumoured rivalry between him and friend Brad Pitt.
"I don’t like him," grinned the actor at the Toronto press conference for his new film, Michael Clayton.
"He’s very short - have you met him? I got the goods on him. That’s all I’m saying," he announced, before adding seriously: "There’s never any competition with my friends. You try not to compete in art. You can’t compare art."
But George added cheekily: "I’ve got some competition with Matt (Damon) though."
However, he admitted that he was a fan of Brad’s work.
"He’s a brave actor. No one else can do what he does, like in Snatch. Snatch is a phenomenal performance."
The two - who acted together in Oceans Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen - are obviously very close.
When jokingly asked what underwear his co-star favours, George said: "Brad wears boxers. He wears both actually because he really wants to cover up."

As a child George often spent time on set with his father, even taking part in shows he was involved in. Despite some early promise as an athlete - even trying out for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team in 1977 - and an attempt at further education (never a promising student, he dropped out of both Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati), George soon followed in the showbiz family footsteps, auditioning for several parts in television series’. He was first noticed thanks to a role on the popular sitcom Roseanne during the 1980s but it wasn’t until 1994 and a part as handsome, moody Doctor Doug Ross in fast paced drama ER (not to be confused with Clooney’s earlier role in comedy E/R), that the actor really hit the big time.
With five years as Dr Doug under his belt Clooney made the leap to movies, starring in From Dusk ’Til Dawn, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm and O Brother, Where Art Thou? to much acclaim. He had also starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight and taken on the role of Batman during his ER years, ensuring he was now Hollywood A-list.
However it was his relationship with Out of Sight Director Stephen Soderburgh that would ensure Clooney made film history. The duo paired up for the first in a blockbusting franchise in 2001 - Ocean’s Eleven, and its successors, would team Clooney with fellow heartthrobs Brad Pitt and Matt Damon and hit the number one spot worldwide. Although the role of Danny Ocean would ensure Clooney’s continuing popularity with the public he was also determined to show he was more than a pretty face and a winning smile. In 2002 he made his directorial debut with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, although not a huge box office success the film won critical acclaim.
This was just the beginning of Clooney’s critical success. He soon followed Confessions with Good Night and Good Luck, which earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. In the same year he was nominated for, and went on to win, Best Supporting Actor for his role in Syriana.
Clooney has since teamed up with Soderburgh not only on further Oceans movies but on The Good German, released in 2006. Away from the film set he is an active campaigner having been outspoken about not only the Iraq war but the Darfur crisis and global warming. There have even been rumours that he may enter politics, however Clooney himself says ’run for office? No...I’ve slept with too many women, taken too many drugs and I’ve been to too many parties.’
A confirmed bachelor, George was previously married to fellow actor Talia Balsam, from 1989 to 1993 and was linked to British model Lisa Snowdon on and off for some time. However he claims he will never again marry or have children, preferring to spend time with friends including Oceans co-stars Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts and, until recently, his pot bellied pig Max, who died in 2006.
