No more Ocean sequels says Clooney - Nov 26 2007

Despite the Ocean’s films hitting the big time at the box office, George Clooney has said there won’t be a sequel to Ocean’s Thirteen.

"The door is absolutely without question closed," he told Entertainment Weekly magazine.

"The only person who tries to keep it open is Jerry Weintraub, because he’s the consummate producer."

George also commented on the negative response the second film - Ocean’s Twelve - received in the press.

"I thought Twelve missed in some ways," he said. "I feel like we got the movie back [with Ocean’s Thirteen]. You get to a point where you go, "well now, do we really want all these guys to just get richer? It started to feel like wealthy guys looking to get wealthier, which correlated into people’s opinions of the actors as well.

"And I think people didn’t dig it as much," added George.

"Thirteen made sense because it was a revenge picture."

Clooney criticises paps - Nov 21 2007

George Clooney is the latest celebrity to come out in support of troubled star Britney Spears, criticising the paparazzi who constantly follow her in LA.

"You look at the footage of Britney running the red light - there’s eight guys with cameras at night in the middle of the street. There are no rules now," he tells Entertainment Tonight. "It’s getting to a point where people that are not involved are getting hurt."

The 46-year-old actor was earlier this month involved in a near-collision with paparazzi, while riding his motorbike in the Hollywood Hills.

"What they’re doing is illegal," he adds. "It’s high speed chases and they’re competing with each other. They’re not trying to catch me doing something stupid; they’re trying to create me doing something stupid. You don’t get to break all these laws and then say, ’I’m just doing my job.’ The guys that commit all these crimes are rewarded for it. It creates bounty hunters in a way."

George also had some advice for the paps.

"Take your pictures but don’t go 60mph down a one-way street. Don’t cause injury to people who aren’t involved."

George won’t wed, says cousin - Nov 6 2007

Things may be hotting up between George Clooney and his rumoured girlfriend Sarah Larson, but don’t expect the Michael Clayton star to surprise her with an engagement ring any time soon.

According to his first cousin, Bionic Woman actor Miguel Ferrer, George has vowed never to walk up the aisle again after his marriage to actress Talia Balsam ended in 1993.

"He’s been married once before and swears he’ll never do it again," Miguel told OK!

And Miguel insisted that 46-year-old George, who was involved in a motorcycle crash with Sarah in September, won’t change his mind on the ’no marriage’ pledge.

"I think he meets a lot of right girls. But I hear she’s terrific," he said.

"So many people wind up with children or getting married who have no business doing it. He knows himself well enough to know that’s not what he wants in his life - he’s got to trust himself."

Clooney’s ready to ride again - Oct 9 2007

It seems fracturing a rib isn’t enough to put George Clooney off getting back on his motorbike.

Biography

Irish American George Timothy Clooney was always destined to be an entertainer with a former pageant queen mother (Nina) and Game Show Host and Anchorman father (Nick).  He is also the nephew of acclaimed Singer Rosemary Clooney and Actor Jose Ferrar.

As a child George often spent time on set with his father, even taking part in shows he was involved in.  Despite some early promise as an athlete - even trying out for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team in 1977 - and an attempt at further education (never a promising student, he dropped out of both Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati), George soon followed in the showbiz family footsteps, auditioning for several parts in television series’.  He was first noticed thanks to a role on the popular sitcom Roseanne during the 1980s but it wasn’t until 1994 and a part as handsome, moody Doctor Doug Ross in fast paced drama ER (not to be confused with Clooney’s earlier role in comedy E/R), that the actor really hit the big time.

With five years as Dr Doug under his belt Clooney made the leap to movies, starring in From Dusk ’Til Dawn, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm and O Brother, Where Art Thou? to much acclaim.  He had also starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight and taken on the role of Batman during his ER years, ensuring he was now Hollywood A-list.

However it was his relationship with Out of Sight Director Stephen Soderburgh that would ensure Clooney made film history.  The duo paired up for the first in a blockbusting franchise in 2001 - Ocean’s Eleven, and its successors, would team Clooney with fellow heartthrobs Brad Pitt and Matt Damon and hit the number one spot worldwide.  Although the role of Danny Ocean would ensure Clooney’s continuing popularity with the public he was also determined to show he was more than a pretty face and a winning smile.  In 2002 he made his directorial debut with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, although not a huge box office success the film won critical acclaim.

This was just the beginning of Clooney’s critical success.  He soon followed Confessions with Good Night and Good Luck, which earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.  In the same year he was nominated for, and went on to win, Best Supporting Actor for his role in Syriana.

Clooney has since teamed up with Soderburgh not only on further Oceans movies but on The Good German, released in 2006.  Away from the film set he is an active campaigner having been outspoken about not only the Iraq war but the Darfur crisis and global warming.  There have even been rumours that he may enter politics, however Clooney himself says ’run for office? No...I’ve slept with too many women, taken too many drugs and I’ve been to too many parties.’

A confirmed bachelor, George was previously married to fellow actor Talia Balsam, from 1989 to 1993 and was linked to British model Lisa Snowdon on and off for some time.  However he claims he will never again marry or have children, preferring to spend time with friends including Oceans co-stars Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts and, until recently, his pot bellied pig Max, who died in 2006.
