Coleen to keep her name? - Mar 18 2008
Coleen McLoughlin has apparently sworn to keep her maiden name when she marries Wayne Rooney.

Coleen, 21, is expected to marry the Manchester United striker in a lavish ceremony in June - but it seems the Wag is determined she won't become "Coleen Rooney".

"She is adamant that she will keep her maiden name even after they are wed," The Daily Mirror quotes a friend as telling Hello! magazine.

"McLoughlin is the name by which she is known and she sees no reason to change it.

"She's proud to be a McLoughlin and she is proud of what she has achieved under that name."

The television presenter and writer has already marked herself out as a shrewd businesswoman, with her own perfume, a weekly magazine column and a successful biography, as well as various TV projects and a number of big advertising deals.

The source went on: "She's a gutsy, independent woman and that won't change when she marries."

Coleen’s show to return - Feb 29 2008
Coleen McLoughlin has bagged herself a second series of her hit ITV2 show Coleen’s Real Women.

The fiancee of footballer Wayne Rooney travels around Britain on the hunt for amateur models to win high-profile modelling contracts in the show, which is currently on Thursdays at 9pm.

Coleen, 21, said: "I’m thrilled. I loved making the first series and have been made up about all the successes enjoyed so far by the girls taking part - with hopefully more to come. It’s great that the viewers are enjoying it too."

So far in the first series, Coleen has found a real woman for three well-known brands: hosiery firm Pretty Polly, make-up giants Avon and lingerie company Ultimo.

Zai Bennett, Controller of ITV2, said: "Coleen’s successfully made everyday women the faces, boobs and legs of brands as big as Avon, Ultimo, and Pretty Polly and we’re all looking forward to the series coming back even bigger and better next year."

Bad role model Coleen - Feb 28 2008
Coleen McLoughlin and Jennifer Ellison have been branded bad role models for being so tanned.

Research in Liverpool has shown 60 per cent of 13 to 15-year-old girls are using sunbeds on a regular basis to look more like the sun-baked celebrities, according to The Guardian.

Children are even being bullied for having pale skin, and forging letters of consent from their parents to use sunbeds, the paper claims.

John Hayes, chief of Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network who carried out the research, has apparently blamed celebrities such as footballer’s wife Alex Curran, Coleen and Jennifer.

He said: "It is not just the fault of peer pressure but Britain’s obsession with celebrity.

"Children should not be following the example of people like Jordan and Peter Andre. They should be looking up to stars who stay away from the sunbed - like Nicole Kidman."

Britain has one of the world’s highest skin cancer rates, with 60,000 cases a year.

Coleen hates WAG title - Jan 22 2008
Coleen McLoughlin has apparently revealed that she hates being called a WAG.

The 21-year-old - who is fronting her new TV show Coleen’s Real Women - told New! magazine: "I hate that word. We are individuals and we shouldn’t be lumped together in a group.

"We’re all different and don’t go round together as a big gang of wives and girlfriends. We all have our own lives.

Biography

The daughter of Tony, a bricklayer, and Colette, a nursery nurse, Coleen McLoughlin was raised in the rough Liverpool suburb of Croxteth.  One of four children, she has two younger brothers, Joe and Anthony, and a sister, Rosie, who suffers from the condition Rett’s Syndrome.

Coleen met aspiring footballer Wayne Rooney at St John Bosco Catholic school where, she says, he pestered her in to going out with him by constantly asking ’are you gonna ring me?’  Their first date is reported to have been at the local cinema, where they watched Austin Powers 2.  Although Coleen left school with a respectable ten GCSEs and aspirations to become an actress (she had starred in school productions of Grease and Bugsy Malone), by this time she had become something of a celebrity as Wayne became one of England’s most famous young footballers.

Tabloid excitement followed as Coleen shopped ’til she dropped, forgave Wayne an ill advised dalliance with a prostitute, accepted a proposal on a petrol station forecourt then threw her £46,000 ring in to the otter enclosure at the zoo.  By the time she was 18 Coleen was one of the most photographed women in the country and her developing style had won her legions of fans.

Before long Coleen had no need to spend her boyfriend’s money - she had amassed a fortune of £5.5m of her own through sponsorship deals, writing her own column for Closer, modelling for Asda (whom she is also in talks to design a range for), and a deal to write her own book, Welcome to My World.  Meanwhile she has challenged public perception through a presenting stint on Tonight With Trevor McDonald in which she spoke about Rett’s Syndrome.

Coleen, who lives in Cheshire, will reportedly marry Wayne in 2008.
