Christina shoots up sexiest poll - Mar 10 2008
Christina Aguilera has shot up FHM's Sexiest Women list thanks to her post-pregnancy curves.

The singer, who gave birth to son Max two months ago, has attracted 15,000 votes in the past week alone after she was photographed looking swell.

While other celebrities have shed their baby weight with alarming speed, Christina has been happy to show off her voluptuous new figure.

She is now in the top 25 of FHM's Sexiest Women in the World list, which will be announced on April 24.

New mum Myleene Klass has also made the top 50 for the first time.

But while men appear to love yummy mummies, pregnant celebrities are proving a turn-off.

Last year's Sexiest Woman winner Jessica Alba has plummeted in the rankings, as have expectant mums Angelina Jolie, Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman.

FHM's deputy editor Chris Bell said: "It seems men no longer fancy women who are with child, no matter how famous or beautiful they are. Are they just more unattainable - or is it the fat ankles?

"Either way, less and less men find them 'glowing' and 'radiant' any more.

"However, there has been a huge burst in voting for new mothers. Men are obviously attracted to the benefits of a post-natal flush. If you've seen Christina Aguilera recently, you'll probably understand why."

Christina boasts old-school glamour - Mar 7 2008
Christina Aguilera has been turned into a classic Hitchcock heroine by jeweller Stephen Webster.

The mother-of-one has just been announced as the new face of the London-based designer’s spring 2008 campaign.

The ads, which play on Christina’s love of old-Hollywood glamour while giving a nod to classic Hitchcock films such as Rear Window, feature the singer swathed in Stephen’s lavish collection of unconventional and modern necklaces, cuffs, rings and earrings.

"Stephen and I have been friends for many years," the 27-year-old said to W.

"He is a wonderful designer with a creative spirit and innovative vision, and I am honoured to be a part of it all. Working together on this campaign and collection has been an incredible experience."

Stephen revealed how excited he was that Christina was on board, telling Marie Claire: "She was a real coup for us. She’s our longest-term regular client and the right age for the brand.

"We think she’s in the most glamorous period of her life right now, and she is the main source of inspiration behind the collection."

Being a muse is nothing new to Christina Aguilera, whose retro-inspired fashion sense has been appreciated by the world’s top designers and stylists.

Christina’s musical baby - Feb 20 2008
Christina Aguilera has revealed she’s already educating her new son Max about her favourite music - even though he’s barely a month old.

"Yesterday we had Led Zeppelin blaring through the house," the singer told People magazine.

"Most new mums play Beethoven, but we’re playing Metallica, Bob Marley and The Stones. And just like his mum, he’s a total night owl."

However, the star and her husband, music executive Jordan Bratman, say their son isn’t yet demonstrating any signs of the impressive lung capacity which made Christina a top selling singer.

"He’s not a big crier so he hasn’t really belted it out yet," she says.

Christina is looking forward to seeing Max - who arrived on January 12 - embracing some rhythm when he’s a bit bigger, and apparently plans to bring him on tour with her.

Biography

Rising to fame on the tide of the Mickey Mouse TV show, alongside contemporaries such as Britney and Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera has grown from a young, precocious, pop princess to ‘one of the greatest vocalists of our time’, apparently.

Aguilera began her foray in to the world of pop at a very young age, by entering local talent shows and singing competitions, sighting her early influences as The Sound of Music, Etta James, Whitney and Mariah Carey, amongst others.

At the tender age of ten, she appeared on Star Search, singing Etta James’ ‘A Sunday Kind of Love’, she didn’t win the competition, but her performance had a real impact on it’s audience, and in 1993 she joined the Disney Channel’s variety show The New Mickey Mouse Club.

Aguilera recorded her first song at the age of fourteen, a duet with Japanese singer Keizo Nakanishi and in 1997 she represented the US at the ‘Golden Stag’ International Festival’ where she performed a two song set, with covers of Sheryl Crow and Diana Ross numbers.

However, it wasn’t until 1998 and the song ‘Reflection’ that the diva was really catapulted into the full-blown showbiz world of entertainment. Recorded for the Disney production of Mulan, the song earned her a contract with RCA Records, plus a spot in the top twenty in the US Singles Chart, and a Golden Glob Award for ‘Best Original Song’.

In 1999, Aguilera released her self-titled debut album, Christina Aguilera – the release hit the number one spot in both the US and Canadian album charts, and sold well internationally. The singles ‘Genie in a Bottle’, ‘What a Girl Wants’ and ‘Come on Over Baby…’ all topped the single charts throughout 1999 and 2000, whilst she won a Grammy for ‘Best New Artist’.

2000 saw release of her Latin influenced album, Mi Reflegjo, which hit number one on the Latin album charts and won her a Latin Grammy Award for ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Album’. Her second release of that year was the ‘My Kind of Christmas’ album that went Platinum in the USA and led to a duet with Ricky Martin.

Her collaboration in 2001 with Lil’ Kim, Mya and Pink, on the single ‘Lady Marmalade’ for the Moulin Rouge! Soundtrack, added more fuel to her success story, hitting the top spot in the US and eleven other counties, alongside earning the performers a Grammy for ‘Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals’.

Her second English language album, ‘Stripped’, was released in 2002 and became the showcase for a new look and sound. Co-written by Aguilera and with influences that ranged from blues through to hip-hop, the album launched a new sexy look and following the release, Aguilera appeared in a number of photo shoots for publications such as Maxim and Rolling Stone. The notorious music video ‘Dirrty’ spawned a bit of a backlash in the US with many in the media sighting her new image as a publicity stunt. The single flunked in the US, but saw wide spread success elsewhere.

In 2003 she joined her old screen mate, Justin Timberlake, for a highly successful tour in the US for the Justified & Stripped Tour.

Aguilera’s third studio album, Back to Basics, released in 2006, went to number one in thirteen countries, with the single ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ leading the success in the international charts and bagging her another Grammy as ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance’.

In her private life, Aguilera has played an active part with charities, including the support of a woman’s shelter in her hometown of Pittsburg, as well as PETA, joining in the campaign to fight AIDS and the international effort to end genocide in Darfur.

In 2002 she started dating music executive Jordan Bratman, they announced their engagement in 2005 and tied the knot later that year in the Napa Valley.
