Much of the six-page declaration centres on the night of January 28. Lynne Spears said she, her husband and a friend went to Britney’s home, but security guards kept everyone but her out. Once inside, Lynne Spears said she found several paparazzi.
"The paparazzi reported to Sam and addressed him with great respect. They treated him like a general," she said. She added there had been "a big fight" with Lutfi, and her daughter was crying.
"Sam had told Britney she was an unfit mother, a piece of trash and a whore, that she cares more about Adnan, her current boyfriend, than she cares about her kids and that she does not deserve her kids," she said.
She said Britney was not home when she first arrived, and she understood Lutfi had disabled all of her daughter’s cars to keep her from leaving. She said he ordered one of the photographers to take her away when he found out her parents were on their way to intervene.
Eventually, she said, "Britney returned and became very agitated and could not stop moving. She cleaned the house. She changed her clothes many times. She also changed her three dogs’ clothes many times.
"Britney spoke to me in a tone and a level of understanding of a very young girl. Britney then picked up a bottle of pills and read the label and asked us, ’What does insomnia mean?’"
Britney to extend her hospital stay - Feb 4 2008
Britney Spears will remain in a hospital psychiatric ward for an additional 14 days, sources close to the star said.
Spears was to be released from UCLA Medical Centre’s psychiatric hospital , but doctors and a medical officer at the ward determined that she should remain, the source said.
Spears had been committed on Thursday for a 72-hour hold for evaluation.
Paramedics, flanked by a police escort of about a dozen officers on motorcycles, in cars and a helicopter, took the singer from her home to the UCLA Medical Center’s psychiatric hospital before dawn.
It was the second time this year the 26-year-old has been taken to hospital.
She has been in a spiral of bizarre behaviour since November 2006, when she filed for divorce from Kevin Federline, the father of her sons, one-year-old Jayden James and two-year-old Sean Preston.
Since her break-up with Federline, Spears has been seen at public events in short skirts and without underwear and has shaved her head.
Recently, she was seen sitting on a pavement, holding her pet dog and crying.
Spears was taken to hospital January 3 after police were called to her home when she refused to return her children to Federline following a visit. That episode resulted in her losing custody of her sons.
Treatment begins for Britney - Feb 1 2008
Medical staff are trying to reverse the spiralling problems that led to Britney Spears being committed to a hospital psychiatric ward.
The pop singer, accompanied by more than a dozen police officers, was taken to a Los Angeles medical centre before dawn on Thursday in what one officer would only say was an effort to "get help" for the troubled pop star.
It was her second 72-hour commitment in four weeks, though her previous stay eventually lasted less than two days and was followed by more bizarre antics that have accompanied her divorce and bruising child custody battle.
The law allows a person to be placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold for up to 72 hours if they are believed to be a danger to themselves or others.
Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears, was seen leaving the UCLA Medical Centre’s psychiatric hospital on Thursday morning. Asked if her 26-year-old daughter was all right, she replied: "Yeah."

Born in December 1981, Britney Jean Spears shot to fame in a blaze of pigtails and knee high socks in 1998 with her debut single Baby One More Time. Just seventeen years old Britney quickly became the biggest name in pop following up her success with Oops, I Did It Again, Lucky and Stronger as well as two albums, also called Baby One More Time. However, this wasn’t the first time Britney had tasted fame, she had started her career in American Saturday morning TV’s Mickey Mouse Club alongside pop rival Christina Aguliera and boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
During the early years of her career Britney made millions thanks to merchandising deals and successful hits. But she faced controversy throughout with rumours of plastic surgery and feuds with other stars. Her third album, which saw her take a sexier and more adult turn, was a relative disappointment while her critically panned but box office friendly debut movie Crossroads was a fleeting highlight. Meanwhile her long relationship with Justin Timberlake came to an end in 2002 amid claims that her reputation as a virgin was false and in fact that she had cheated on the N*Sync star. Britney responded by sharing a kiss with idol Madonna on stage at the MTV Awards - an act which saw the pair criticized more than admired.
The kiss signaled the end of Britney’s pop-childhood and with the release of In The Zone and the hit single Toxic she began building a new fanbase. A drunken Las Vegas wedding to childhood friend Jason Alexander ended in annulment after just fifty five hours but, rather than concentrate on her career, Britney continued leaning on the lovelife self destruct button. She, despite advice to the contrary, married dancer, aspiring rapper and all round rat-faced bad boy Kevin Federline in a trailer trash wedding in 2004 and within months announced she was pregnant.
She gave birth to their first son, Sean Preston, in 2005, who was quickly followed by their second child, Jayden James, in 2006.
Following exhaustive media speculation with regard to the state of their marriage, Spears and Federline divorced in November 2006. The announcement saw an ongoing legal battle for the custody of their two sons.
