Ex-husband lets Britney visit sons - Feb 24 2008
Kevin Federline has agreed to give ex-wife Britney Spears visitation rights with their two young sons.
Federline’s lawyer Mark Kaplan said the former couple had agreed to a modification of a court order that had stripped troubled pop star Spears, 26, of her visitation rights.
A court commissioner gave Federline sole physical and legal custody of their sons and suspended the Spears’ visitation rights on January 4.
Spears has not been allowed to see sons Jayden, one, and Sean, two, since an incident at her home that led to the first of her two admissions to a hospital psychiatric department this year.
Spears and her estate were placed under the temporary conservatorship of her father James after she was taken to UCLA Medical Centre on January 31.
Conservatorships are granted for people deemed unable to care for themselves or their affairs.
Britney restraining order extended - Feb 22 2008
A judge has extended a restraining order against Britney Spears’ friend and sometime manager Sam Lutfi by nearly a month.
US District Court Judge Philip Gutierrez ordered a March 17 hearing on the matter and extended the restraining order until then.
The action comes on the same day Mr Lutfi was served with the restraining order issued earlier this month.
In court papers, Jeffrey Wexler, a lawyer for 26-year-old Spears’ father James, wrote that "after three weeks of apparently evading service," Mr Lutfi was served with the order outside his Los Angeles apartment.
The order, which requires Mr Lutfi to stay 250 yards away from Spears and her home, was set to expire on Friday.
Mr Wexler had asked for the order to be extended until the court could schedule a hearing.
On February 7, Spears’ mother Lynne requested the temporary restraining order against the troubled singer’s frequent companion, claiming Mr Lutfi had held Spears hostage in her own home, drugged her and taken over her finances.
Lawyers for Mr Spears, who was named co-conservator of his daughter’s estate, told a Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner that investigators spent more than 200 hours trying to locate Mr Lutfi and serve him the restraining order.
Spears and her estate, estimated to be worth £52.5 million, were placed under a temporary conservatorship after she was taken to UCLA Medical Centre on January 31. Conservatorships are granted for people deemed unable to care for themselves or their affairs.
Court throws out Britney media gag - Feb 20 2008
A court has refused to stop lawyers involved in Britney Spears’ child custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline from speaking to the press.
Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon rejected the request after Anne Kiley argued that media coverage was "emotionally and physically" dangerous to the troubled pop star.
K-Fed’s lawyer, Mark Kaplan, said the absence of a gag order did not leave Britney’s children in jeopardy and claimed that the singer was more concerned about the paparazzi frenzy that followed her.
Mr Kaplan noted that the paparazzi swarms existed before Britney filed for divorce in November 2006.
Neither the Toxic star nor her aspriging rapper ex were present at the hearing.
Britney has not been allowed to see sons Jayden, one, and Sean, two, since an incident at her home that led to the first of her two admissions to hospital psychiatric wards this year and a decision by another court to put her father James in charge of her affairs.
Outside court, Mr Kaplan said K-Fed would like the singer to see her children.

Born in December 1981, Britney Jean Spears shot to fame in a blaze of pigtails and knee high socks in 1998 with her debut single Baby One More Time. Just seventeen years old Britney quickly became the biggest name in pop following up her success with Oops, I Did It Again, Lucky and Stronger as well as two albums, also called Baby One More Time. However, this wasn’t the first time Britney had tasted fame, she had started her career in American Saturday morning TV’s Mickey Mouse Club alongside pop rival Christina Aguliera and boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
During the early years of her career Britney made millions thanks to merchandising deals and successful hits. But she faced controversy throughout with rumours of plastic surgery and feuds with other stars. Her third album, which saw her take a sexier and more adult turn, was a relative disappointment while her critically panned but box office friendly debut movie Crossroads was a fleeting highlight. Meanwhile her long relationship with Justin Timberlake came to an end in 2002 amid claims that her reputation as a virgin was false and in fact that she had cheated on the N*Sync star. Britney responded by sharing a kiss with idol Madonna on stage at the MTV Awards - an act which saw the pair criticized more than admired.
The kiss signaled the end of Britney’s pop-childhood and with the release of In The Zone and the hit single Toxic she began building a new fanbase. A drunken Las Vegas wedding to childhood friend Jason Alexander ended in annulment after just fifty five hours but, rather than concentrate on her career, Britney continued leaning on the lovelife self destruct button. She, despite advice to the contrary, married dancer, aspiring rapper and all round rat-faced bad boy Kevin Federline in a trailer trash wedding in 2004 and within months announced she was pregnant.
She gave birth to their first son, Sean Preston, in 2005, who was quickly followed by their second child, Jayden James, in 2006.
Following exhaustive media speculation with regard to the state of their marriage, Spears and Federline divorced in November 2006. The announcement saw an ongoing legal battle for the custody of their two sons.
