Amy’s lawyer asks to delay hearing - Feb 28 2008
Singer Amy Winehouse’s lawyer has asked a court in Norway to postpone a drugs possession hearing she is due to attend on Friday.

Winehouse and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, were arrested in Bergen in October last year and held overnight on charges of possessing seven grammes of marijuana.

They were released the next morning after paying fines of around £350 each, and they continued a European tour.

However, the singer later appealed against the fine, claiming Norwegian police made mistakes in the case.

The appeal was scheduled for a court hearing this Friday, but Winehouse’s lawyer Ole Kvelstad now claims his client has not received the letter detailing the date of the hearing.

However, Bergen Police Attorney Rudolf Christoffersen said that Winehouse, who recently impressed with her performance at the Brit Awards, knows when the hearing is, even if the letter has not arrived.

Amy to launch fashion range? - Feb 27 2008

Amy Winehouse is apparently launching her own brand of clothes and cosmetics.

The Rehab singer is to produce her own style range so fans can recreate her unique look for themselves, reports The Sun.

The line will include her own brand of hairspray for recreating her famous bee-hive hairstyle and of course her own eyeliner for achieving her trademark heavy eye make-up flicks, according to the newspaper.

Amy, 24, reportedly has a meeting scheduled later this week to discuss the new project with fashion and make-up experts.

A source said: "Amy’s style has been copied by girls around the country and there’s a lot of money to be made. It’s a very distinctive look.

"She wants to bring out a range of cosmetics and fashion products. There could be hairspray, head scarves, liquid eyeliner, perfume.

"All the things that are distinctive of her look."

A fashion industry source added: "I think this stuff would sell very well in London. She has become a fashion icon despite not always looking too fresh."

Amy nearly didn’t do Brits - Feb 21 2008
Amy Winehouse’s triumphant performance at the Brit Awards was all the more impressive, because, it seems, she almost got kicked off the show after a wobbly rehearsal.

The diva, who sang her hits Valerie and Love Is A Losing Game with gusto on the night, apparently sparked fears among the show’s bosses when she fell over during her practice session.

A source told the Daily Mirror: "Amy was atrocious in the final rehearsals, she kept falling over. But she had had a couple of large drinks before she went on stage and she seemed out of it. At that stage we were seriously considering pulling her out of the show."

The insider added that they had a contingency plan in case it didn’t work out.

"We had a meeting with her record company in the afternoon, and what ever they did seemed to do the trick. But we had made plans in case Amy’s voice didn’t hold up on the night."

Biography

Amy Winehouse hails from Osidge Lane, Southgate, although she currently lives in Camden. She is being feted as the new big thing with a voice likened to soul artists of the caliber of American soul queen Erykah Badu.

Amy and her brother Alex were brought up by her mum and grandmother, and fondly remembers ’Growing up in East Finchley was cool.’ She started playing guitar at 12 and listening to jazz. Her acceptance into the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School seemed to spell big things for Amy, although she was expelled at 15, apparently for getting her nose pierced. She carried on her studies at an all girls school in Mill Hill, which she hated as there were no fella’s there.

Amy made appearances with the Youth Jazz Orchestra, produced a demo tape of jazz covers that was picked up by Universal/Island Records, and they signed her almost immediately. She released her album Frank in October 2003 and supported Jamie Callum on his national tour. Amy then went on to be nominated for two Brit Awards, British Female Solo Artist and Best Urban Artist. Not bad for a girl of 20!
