Biography

Amanda Louise Holden was born in Bishop’s Waltham, Hampshire on February 16 1971.  Her first telelvision appearance was as a contestant on Blind Date (she wasn’t picked) and later as a ’serious actress’ on Eastenders, playing a minor role.  She went on to take several parts in one off dramas, soap bit parts and comedy shows including Goodness Gracious Me and Smack The Pony.

However, it was a part in one off, Happy Birthday Shakespeare, which would catapult Amanda to nationwide infamy.  Well known as game show host Les Dennis’ better (looking) half, Amanda embarked on an affair with co star Neil Morrissey, a fact that was revealed to Les through the tabloids photos of the pair.  Les and Amanda split following his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother and subsequent break down.

Amanda, now a household name in her own right thanks to a starring role in TV drama Cutting It, went on to take theatre roles including Thoroughly Modern Millie (although rumours persist that she fell out with Martine McCutcheon over My Fair Lady) and starred in her own short lived sitcom, Mad About Alice.  More recently she has starred in gentle Sunday night drama Wild At Heart.

Engaged to record exec Chris Hughes, Amanda gave birth to Alexa in January 2006.  She lives in Richmond, Surrey.
