June wedding for Wayne and Coleen - Dec 19 2007
Footballer Wayne Rooney is to marry his model girlfriend Coleen McLoughlin in June next year.
The 22-year-old Manchester United striker told Hello! magazine that England’s failure to qualify for Euro 2008 had the unexpected benefit of allowing him to marry his childhood sweetheart sooner rather than later.
He said: "For a while we couldn’t make any plans because I didn’t know whether I would be playing in Euro 2008 - but when we failed to qualify, as devastating as that was, we were able to come up with some firm dates.
"Had England got through to the tournament then we would have married later on in the summer but that meant we wouldn’t have had a honeymoon. So I guess there is some upside to it!"
The couple have been together for five years.
Coleen, 21, told Hello! she has visited potential wedding venues in France and Italy and will be checking out more venues in Ireland and England.
She said the couple both want a Roman Catholic wedding and want to be married before they start a family.
Coleen models for the George at Asda clothing range and has her own perfume, Coleen x. She will present her own ITV show, Real Women, next year.
She has written an autobiography, Welcome To My World, and released a fitness DVD.
Coleen smells sweet success - July 23 2007
He’s full of bravado on the pitch, but Wayne Rooney has shown his sensitive side - by helping fiancee Coleen create her forthcoming perfume.
Rooney was a driving force behind Coleen McLoughlin’s new signature scent, she told The Sun newspaper.
The 21-year-old WAG, who launched her perfume this month, said: "I went to France to test 50 different smells. I brought my favourite ones back and gave them to my family and Wayne to help me make a decision.
"Wayne was really a big help and he was even insisting on the one for me to choose. He loves playing with the perfumes."
Coleen has signed a deal with Robertet, one of the oldest perfume firms in France, and Fragrance and Beauty Ltd.
The ten-year deal for the fragrance, entitled Coleen X, and beauty products, could earn the celeb £10 million.
The 100ml bottle of fragrance is presented in a box bearing the signature of the famous footballing girlfriend, as well as a kiss.
It will be in shops nationwide from August, priced £19.95.
Keeping it in the Rooney family? - April 10 2007
Always being compared to your successful older sibling could start to get annoying - but Wayne Rooney’s brother and his girlfriend have apparently discovered that even just looking like the footballer and his fiancee Coleen could be a money-spinner.
Wayne’s brother Graham, 19, and Carly Gardiner, 17, who is Coleen’s cousin, are at the centre of a bidding war by companies in the lucrative celebrity doubles industry, according to the Sun.
"Graham is the spitting image of Wayne. People have struggled to tell them apart since they were young lads," a source told the paper. "Now Graham and Carly have been offered a small fortune for personal appearances. They could easily earn a living if they decided to make a go of it."
Apparently, interest was sparked by the couple’s appearance at Coleen’s 21st birthday party last month.

Keeping up with the WAGs...

During a well remembered game for Everton he sported a tshirt bearing the slogan ’once a blue, always a blue’. Just a short time later he demanded a transfer and was sold to Manchester United, where he remains. He has also made several appearances for the English national side however, his success was marred by his 2006 World Cup sending off alongside the broken foot which almost saw him miss out on the tournament.
Footballing talent aside Wayne is probably better known as Mr Colleen McLoughlin these days. He is engaged to his childhood sweetheart who has stuck by him through tabloid accusations of visits to prostitutes and gambling problems. He has also won libel damages from The Sun and News of the World after they claimed he had assaulted Colleen in a nightclub.
Rooney has recently signed the biggest sports publishing deal ever and will let us in on his secrets over the course of his career through the medium of ghost writer. However, even before his first book hits the shelves he has stumbled on controversy - Everton manager David Moyes is to sue his former wonderboy over claims surrounding his exit from the football club. It seems that wherever this Croxteth lad goes trouble is sure to follow...
