Myleene to host Classical Brits - Mar 6 2008
Myleene Klass is to host this year's Classical Brit Awards.

The ceremony will take place at London's Royal Albert Hall on May 8.

"The Classical Brits is the biggest event in the classical calendar. To be the host is a personal highlight in my career," Myleene said.

"I'm really looking forward to presenting a ceremony that is so close to my heart and I'm sure it will be a magical evening."

The former Hear'Say singer is a classically trained pianist and hosts her own radio show on Classic FM.

Her latest album, Music For Mothers, has topped the classical compilation chart.

The highlight of the UK's classical calendar, the awards see the world's greatest operatic voices, musicians and classical performers take to the stage alongside the brightest new talents for an evening of celebration and world-exclusive performances.

"We are delighted to have Myleene hosting the show this year," commented co-chairmen Dickon Stainer and Thomas Kaurich. "Her fresh, dynamic, and positive style has been instrumental in bringing classical music to a wider audience in the UK. Together with an unprecedented all-star line up, this year's Classical Brits promises to be one of the biggest and best shows ever."

The nominations will be unveiled on Tuesday April 8 in London.

Myleene: I’m like any normal working mum - Feb 24 2008

She may have won the nation over after her stint in the jungle, but Myleene Klass has apparently revealed she thinks of herself as "distinctly average".

The 29-year-old TV presenter, who gave birth to her first baby, daughter Ava, last summer, has just released a classical album of music for mothers and an autobiography My Bump And Me.

But she told The Daily Telegraph: "I’m just like any normal working mum only more people know about my work. Recently I walked around Selfridges with banana sick down my trousers and nobody told me...

"Maybe people relate to me because I am a girl from Norfolk who has just tried to be the best she can be, which is distinctly average."

In her book, Myleene goes into detail about some of the less than pleasant aspects of pregnancy and childbirth.

But the star urged other women to have children, saying: "When I look at Ava it’s like she is my heart! But I didn’t want to lie. I wanted to tell it how it was for me."

Myleene’s comedy crush - Feb 20 2008
Myleene Klass has apparently admitted to having a rather unusual crush - on TV comedian Stephen Fry.

The 29-year-old TV presenter, who has a baby daughter Ava with partner Graham Quinn, has revealed she thinks gay QI host Stephen could even be the ideal husband, reports the Daily Express.

Myleene was quoted as saying: "I love Stephen Fry. The guy is amazing. The autobiography of his first 20 years, Moab Is My Washpot, is fantastic. You get a real insight into what makes him tick."

She gushed: "Stephen is humorous, very gorgeous, very charming, very tall, dark, suave and handsome. In fact, I think he’s my future husband... he just doesn’t know it yet!"

Former jungle babe Myleene made a splash at the recent Bafta Awards in a voluptous blue dress, showing she has got back in shape since the birth of Ava last summer.

She released her latest classical album Myleene’s Music For Mothers this week.

Myleene’s baby fear - Feb 13 2008

Myleene Klass has confessed she was terrified she had harmed her unborn baby.

The TV presenter - who gave birth to healthy daughter Ava last August - did not realise she was pregnant and feared she had broken all the rules.

Biography

Born in Norfolk in 1978 Myleene Klass shot to fame as one of the winning contestants of Popstars.  As part of Hear*Say she had four top ten singles and two albums.  However the success of the band was shortlived and following a spat between Myleene and Kym Marsh they split in 2003.

Rather than follow the usual solo path Myleene signed a deal with the jazz and classical division of Universal, releasing the album Moving On which explored her training as a classical pianist and peaked at number two in the classical charts.  She has also presented CD:UK among other shows and appeared on stage in The Vagina Monologues.
