Distance key to Madonna's marriage? - Mar 5 2008
Madonna and Guy Ritchie have apparently found a novel way of keeping their marriage fun - by spending more time apart.
The Material Girl has been roaming around the globe, hosting parties in America and promoting her directorial debut in Berlin, miles away from her director hubby, reports Grazia.
Guy's dad, John Ritchie, told the magazine: "They are not spending any time together at the moment. Madonna and the children are all rushing around together like mad and Guy wants to stay in England."
And it seems that whilst the days of going shooting together at their Wiltshire estate may be on the wane, the separation is boosting their relationship.
A close friend told the mag: "Madonna has come to realise that they both need breathing space for the marriage to work. For years, she was always at Guy's side, trailing him to the pub when he was out with mates and acting the dutiful wife whenever she could.
"However, what Guy appreciates and respects most is space to do his own thing. The more she leaves him alone, the better they get on. They are in regular phone contact and are really close at the moment."
Guy is currently finishing his new film RocknRolla in London, before he shoots an advert in Spain, while Madge is in Los Angeles on jury service.
Guy to direct Nike movies? - Jan 30 2008
Guy Ritchie has apparently has signed up to direct a series of mini movies for Nike.
It seems the 39-year-old has also been asked by brand bosses to try and get his wife Madonna involved in the latest campaign too.
A source told The Sun: "Nike have commissioned Guy to put together some really cool feature-length adverts to last the entire commercial break.
"His brief is to make miniature movies with Nike gear as the star of the adverts. That’s unless he can rope Madonna in to add her presence to the campaign."
Madonna would be the ideal candidate as she loves her exercise so much. She is said to run for miles each day and has even bought the house next to hers to convert into a gym.
She is busy getting herself into shape to film the video for her latest single, 4 Minutes To Save The World.
Guy heeds Madge advice on film cuts - Dec 5 2007
Husband and wife, Madonna and Guy Ritchie, showed a united front at the New York celebrity screening of his film Revolver.
Guy revealed to the New York Daily News that he listens to his wife.
"We made it shorter and tried to make it simpler," he said, referring to the edited version of his 2005 film.
"Funnily enough, we took out the bits that my wife recommended we take out the first time she saw it."
But Madge quickly chipped in, saying: "He never listens to me."
Mrs Ritchie was also quick to hail her hubby for his guidance on her directorial debut, Filth And Wisdom, which she is due to unveil at the Berlin Film Festival.
"He gave me a lot of good advice," she added.
And when asked who wears the trousers in the family, Madonna seemed happy to pass the authority over.
She replied: "Well, he sometimes wears a kilt."

His second film, Snatch, also did well, taking £3m in its first weekend earlier this year, a record opening for an 18-rated film. The diamond-heist drama has so far grossed £12.3m in the UK and is soon to be released in the US. But, of course, it is not just Ritchie’s film successes that command the hundreds of column inches written about him each week. The 32-year-old’s marriage with pop icon Madonna and the birth of their son Rocco has caught the imagination of the public.
He began his career as a film runner in the UK in 1993, quickly progressing to directing music promos for bands and commercials by 1995. The money he made from this enabled him to direct his first film - Hard Case, a 20-minute short and after meeting his producing partner Matthew Vaughn, the two formed SKA Films. They went on to make Lock Stock, and two years later Snatch was released.
Ritchie also spotted the acting potential in footballer Vinnie Jones, who terrified opponents on the field with his crunching tackles.
He is now working on a 17th Century civil war action drama, which is slated for production in 2001.
He spent much of his childhood at Loton Park, in Shropshire, the 17th century home of his baronet stepfather.
Ritchie was born in Hatfield in Hertfordshire in 1968. His parents divorced when he was five, and he went to live with his mother, Amber, who was a model, and her new husband, Sir Michael Leighton, until she divorced again when he was 12.
It is reported that his severe dyslexia meant he attended a total of 10 schools, and left with one GCE in film studies. He got a job at Island Records, before pursuing his interest in film-making.
