What’s it about? Some may prefer a weekender in front of the box, others may want to wine and dine with friends, but come off it…it’s SUMMER! Ditch the remote and head down to the green fields of music, pleasure, sun, heat and booze. Or, as some may call it the Lovebox Weekender.

Calling all music fanatics, teeny boppers or them darned straw hatters, Lovebox Weekender accelerates in pace for its 2008 event. Sited in the unlikely spot of Hackney’s Victoria Park, the festival champions great music of all genres, ground-breaking artists and true music innovators, the weekender is the numero uno for party benders.

This year’s lineup includes Goldfrapp, The Flaming Lips, Manu Chao, Jack Penate, Natty and Lovebox Godfathers Groove Armada,  American heavyweights, The Dandy Warhols, Frankie Knuckles, Alphabeat, Natty, Herve, Roni Size, The Go! Team, Lethal Bizzle, Midnight Juggernauts and Sebastian Tellier.

A heavy loaded festie in the thick of the city.

Book now if you love:
a true festival, but don’t fancy going out into the wilds

Don’t miss: The Flaming Lips, their extravangant psychadelic floorshow should give a real edge to traipsing round Viccy Park

"This is the fifth festival I've been to this year and is one of the better ones I've been too (when I eventually got let in!). The mix of music was spot on, truly something for everyone. If you wanted it mad it was there, if you wanted retro it was there.

The food choice was better than most, the bars were just the usual beer, beer and beer. No real complaints on this one except the long delays in opening the site which was some 3 hours later than published. As for the acts..stunning performance from Groove Armada and an absolute joy to see Blondie. Also highly rated The Rapture and Scratch Perverts.

My abiding memory though? Watching the boys from Last Man Standing playing Beach Volleyball against the Juice Republic Girls. This was Victoria Park in Hackney but for a brief moment looked like the Carribean in glorious sunshine, as for the result?

I Think LMS should stick to music and leave the volleyball well alone..."
