Whats’s It About? Driving through the village of Castle Donington and observing the combination of old people with sticks and young sportswear clad residents from the nearby housing estate, you’d never expect that for one weekend every year this place becomes a rock mecca, heaving with hardcore metal heads and rocking every house within a five mile radius.
The transformation is all thanks to the Download Festival, held at the nearby Donington race track, which annually plays host to the biggest names in metal, from Ozzy Osbourne to Slipknot, from Metallica to Linkin Park.
So hone your devils horns, slap on your eyeliner and prepare to RAAAAWWWWKKK as glam metal vetarans Kiss top a bill which also includes Lostprophets, Juds Priest, Motorhead and original proponents of jock-rock The Offspring.
Book now if you love: your music raw, loud and accompanied by lairy tats
Don’t miss: Wales’ own Lostprophets and a drink at Donington’s Cross Keys, a MV favourite haunt.
