Latest news: Babyshambles, Manic Street Preachers, The Wombats, Vampire Weekend and more confirmed on the NME Stage!
What’s it about? Discarded beers cans, naked beings and blasphemous behaviour; God, don’t we just love the Leeds festival. Always at the forefront of summer fests, Leeds festival is one for the guitar bands and indie-bods.
Sited in Bramham Park, iconic bands such as Nirvana, Muse and The Strokes have all headlined here in the past and there are plenty of big names in line for this year. The schedule for 2008 promises to be unmissable, with legendary reformed reformers Rage Against The Machine leading Friday night, The Killers on for Saturday and none other than Metallica taking over the main stage on the last night. Also on the bill are Bloc Party, Dizzee Rascal, Tenacious D, Queens of the Stone Age, The Raconteurs and The Fratellis to name but a few.
Following in its typical formula of throwing together alternative, indie, punk, hip hop and metal acts, the bill will also accommodate dance music eccentrics, comedy enthusiasts and those night owls who prefer to coo coo at the mish mash of DJ mixes. With a course of 150 acts to digest, just make sure you are packed and ready to Rock n’ Roll.
Book now if you love: Pushing your mates around in shopping trolleys, hopped off your head on cheap beer and reckon you can stomach Slipknot followed by Tenacious D. Eeep...
Don’t miss: Rage Against The Machine. The ultimate band of 90’s political rap-rock-funkdom have reformed and are storming the 2008 festival calendar
Want to go? Weekend tickets are now on sale for £155, with single day tickets going for £65. Weekend tickets include the price of camping but to arrive early on the Wednesday before the event, make sure to buy an Early Entry ticket for £10.
