June 12...
BBC Radio 4 has clambered on board the Latitude wagon to present a series of shows featuring top radio names.  On the programme is Nicholas Parsons presenting cult classic Just A Minute featuring Ross Noble and Phil Jupitus, plus Loose Ends with music from Guillemots among others.  Meanwhile Stories With Latitude features John Hegley and Lucy Porter and Poetry Please includes an appearance from Roger McGough.  Our tip though is an early special edition of The Now Show featuring Steve Punt, Hugh Dennis, Marcus Brigstocke and Mitch Benn on Thursday night.

Newly confirmed acts include 90s US cult band Nada Surf and Americana inspired Murder by Numbers.  Also added are Heloise and the Savoir Faire, House of Love, Gravenhurst, Broken Records, Anya Maria, Billy The Kid, Beggars, Thomas Tantrum and Hold Fire.

May 22...The arts line up for Latitude just keeps getting better with Simon Day and Scott Capurro added to the comedy arena and Mark Steel clambering aboard the literature line up.  Elsewhere the National Theatre’s New Connections, The Lyric Hammersmith and even the RSC tread the boards while cabaret includes an opportunity to learn the ukelele in under an hour with Smack the Pony star Sally Phillips.

Most exciting though has to be the addition of three spectacular acts performed by the Sadlers Well dance company on a floating lake stage.

May 13...
Folk star Beth Orton is confirmed to be appearing on Latitude’s Obelisk stage alongside Belgian rockers Deus and much-mentioned I Am Kloot.  Also confirmed are Guillemots, Black Kids, Aliens, Magistrates and Grammatics.

May 7...
Martha Wainwright, Julian Cope, Howling Bells, Sam Isaac, Fields, White Lies, Nick Dawson Kelly and Tallullah Rendall added to the line up

Line up latest...Headliners Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros and Interpol are set to be joined by Grinderman, The Breeders, The Mars Volta, Death Cab for Cutie, Tindersticks and The Go! Team.  Meanwhile last year’s top act Seasick Steve returns, this time on the Obelisk.

Elsewhere Bill Bailey, Ross Noble, Rich Hall and Omid Djalili top the comedy bill while Carol Ann Duffy, Simon Armitage, Iain Banks, Hanif Kureishi, Irvine Welsh and Jon Ronson have the bookish bits all sewn up.

What’s It About?  Just about the coolest festival on the calendar, Latitude is the anti-Glastonbury.  Set in the rolling Suffolk countryside, just outside the middle-class seaside resort of Southwold, this is a festival which combines real artistic value with a chilled out vibe and family friendly atmosphere.

If you’re after a hedonistic drug fuelled weekend Latitude ain’t for you.  However if your idea of three days well spent includes big name comedy, this year’s most critically acclaimed sounds and seriously thinky live shows, from poetry to cabaret to theatre.  And that’s not to mention late night clubbing, a cinema tent, readings from your favourite wordsmiths, a idyllic children’s play area and those now iconic rainbow coloured sheep.

So who will you find here? This year Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros and The Breeders play live while Bill Bailey and Frankie Boyle are comedy musts while filling the fields are too trendy teens, Guardian reading 2.4 families and even the odd 60-plus who knows that the music didn’t stop after John Lennon was shot.
