Frome Festival returns to the fold this year with an events calendar packed with music, arts and entertainment.

Alongside performances from the likes of Paul Merton, Ken Dodd, Seth Lakeman and Courtney Pine, the event welcomes back Summer School, where musicians from all over the south west are brought together to take part in performance and workshops (Summer School takes place on the late May bank holiday).

This year’s festival also retains a Green Theme for 2008 with a range of events providing opportunities to connect with the environment. Cheese & Grain will back with a menu packed with family activities, plus there’ll be the chance to visit homes with sustainable credentials, hidden gardens, and the renowned Farmers and Country market.

Late Nights at the Masonic is the place to chill after dark with film, comedy, multimedia and cabaret right the way through the night. Or for a more hands on approach check out the journalism and short story competitions (for children and adults respectively – deadline 31 May). If that isn’t enough to get the creative juices flowing, worry not, an extensive programme of walks and talks, book reviews, treasure hunts and workshops is on the cards.

Book now if you love: Literary circles with live music and art thrown in on the side.
Don’t miss: Paul Merton, circus skills workshop, tour of Longleat House
