Crowded House were great, though it did bucket down during that latter part of their set.I'm not a fan of Peter Gabriel but I thought I'd give him a fair listening. Am pretty peeved as that's 20mins of my life I won't get back. I don't think he was up there to sing or entertain but rather create some form of "art". Always thought he was an unusual pick to headline and the fact that about a third of the crowd left was a testament to the fact.
I was very glad to be part of this festival. The stages were amazing! I spent most of my time at the main stage and the talk amongst most people other than the music was the weather. I did have the opportunity to go and see Gareth Gates on the Pepsi Stage but politely turned it down - his music isn't my thing. Ghosts had my vote, managing to lift everyone off their lazy bums to their feet...they also had one of the most sensible merchandise items - umbrellas! - Modelled on stage by their Simon. The Feeling followed - no rain for them. I have seen them a few times now and everytime is an uplifting experience. Their performance counldn't have been better. They definately know how to work the stage! 'Video Killed the Radio Star' was appreciated by the crowds and the 'New' song 'Join With Us' which Dan described as 'not really new anymore' will be on their next album. It is a very catchy tune - I wonder if it will be their next single?Oh my - Crowded House - Some of the best songs ever in my opinion have been written by these guys. It was overwhelming to see the sun for 'Weather With You' and even when the heavens opened later in the set, the crowd's reaction was strong. It was 11 years ago when I bought my first Crowded House single, never thought I would hear them live and they met my expectations! It was a fantastic main stage line up. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for Peter Gabriel. Had a train to catch.
