I am really glad when my little trips out take me near this pub,There's not a lot I can fault there ,A great selection of real ales,( I think there's four) The Eddies is a really nice pint and this time I tried the Dooms Bay,which was a nice change The barman explained that the Eddies bitter was brewed for them by Nethergate breweries, and is a permanent fixture,The other three ales are changed every two weeks, I like the imitation gas lighting and the open fire in the salon bar.Although I have not eaten in this pub, those who where eating seemed happy enough with their meals. The atmosphere was good and so was the service, and although I often forget to comment on the toilets (well at least the gents) where the cleanest pub toilets I have seen in a long time,I really enjoy my visits here. and would recommend it to anyone

Exellent food.. Had the Ham Hock.. Fantastic, lovely smoked flavour, tender, must have been cooked for hours. Mountain of peas and plenty of new potatoes. Can't fault it at all for 11, have paid double for alot less. Nice beer, great surroundings and friendly staff. Bit of a wait for the meal, but it was well worth it. 9 out of 10. (loses 1 for the wait).

Disappointing meal here. The starters were good, triple cooked chips. The main courses, well...The triple cooked chips were like a curates' egg, cooked in parts, but raw in others. The sausage and mash; the gravy was burnt and bitter and the mash lacked either butter or cream to moisten.Bit pricey for what we were offered.
