I've only eaten here once, about 9 months ago. The space is very pleasant, the service was charming - although to be honest, I had come to share a meal with my wife, not talk to the waiter - and the food good. It wasn't, however, excellent. If I remember rightly, some of its more ambitious creations (my starter) didn't really come off, and the simpler things (a steak) were done well, but no better than I could have cooked at home. For the price, I was expecting a bit more.
Food was good, not brilliant though. It was trying to be something it wasnt as well. Northumberland has some of the best produce in Europe and Treacle Moon insists on trying to emulate Italian/French cuisine. Dont, your not good enough, however, give some of the style you have to traditional dishes and create your own slant on the dishes. It is the best eatery in Newcastle but falls far short of other good quality restaurants in other British and European cities. Surprised they had a Bellicart Salmon on the wine list and this alone is worth a visit. The food and the service was just ok though!
One of Newcastle's finest restaurants, Treacle Moon succeeds with an eclectic menu in relaxed surroundings.
