The Dry Bar is somthing of an institution in Manchester, live and kicking since back in the Hacienda days it carries a similar sort of reverence simply for its space on the Manchester nightlife circuit. Opened by New Order in 1989 Dry Bar has established its place in Madchester history, and it now seems to have become one of those places that Mancunians are born with on their night out radar. Hosting a variety of band nights and primo local DJ's Dry has kept itself fresh over the years. As a bar, Dry is neither here nor there however, it tends to form part of a filler for the rest of the evening, setting you up for a trip to Sankeys (while its still open) or just down the road to the Frog & Bucket comedy club. It's still a nice little bar though, just not enough to warrant staying put in the same space for a full evening, although it is sometimes fun to take pleasure in the fact that (allegedly) both Liam Gallagher and Shaun Ryder have been barred from the establishment. Kudos points abound, it still has an earthy charm about the place and always makes for a decent pit stop on a night out.
